Movie Reviews of I Love You to DeathMovie Review: Only because -5 is not an option Summary: 1 Stars
Years ago, when this was a new film. my wife, my two sisters, one husband, and I, went to the theater to see this. We are across the spectrum in tastes--from opera lover to Three Stooges lover. We walked out quietly, each waiting to hear the response of another, no one willing to attack. And it gradually dawned on us that we all agreed this was the most excruciating cinematic experience we had ever had. Worse than "Last House on the Left" my previous all-time loser. Worse than anything. We were astonished that one film could leap to the top of 5 different people's "All Time Worst" list just like that. Powee--thatsa bad movie.
All these years later, it retains that top spot. The most boring, stupid, unbelievable, lame and irritating movie, without a shred of humor (this was a ****** comedy???) cleverness, or bite. One of those films where you try to imagine the producer and director seeing the final cut and saying, "Yep. Nailed that baby!" I once decided that maybe the dinner we ate before seeing it was a bit off, and we were suffering from indigestion. So gave it a spin again, in the comfort of my living room. And quit after about 10 minutes. If anything, it was even worse. Staggeringly bad, knock you down bad. Whatever crowded realms of Hell exist for the purveyors of bad art, well, a new one had to be carved out for the responsible parties.
Movie Review: A yawner Summary: 1 Stars
I can't really review this product, since I don't have the dvd (this seemingly doesn't stop many other would be Amazon reviewers, however, since they also commonly 'review' the movie, and not the actual product, whether it be dvd, vhs,or whatever...). I just wanted to inject some sanity amidst all the 5 star reviews here. I saw this in the theater with my friend's wife, and one of her friends, and we walked out just stupefied. I generally like Kline, along with many of the other actors here, but they are simply given nothing to work with. The plot is nonsensical (even though supposedly 'based on a true story'....as Pauline Kael might note, when you see those words, you know you're in for it),and the script would be mediocre even for a high school play. I have little doubt that all the stars in the picture would rank this travesty amongst the nadir of their career. I don't think I so much as chuckled once during this interminable film.
