Movie Reviews of Hurrah! A Year of Ta-Dah

Movie Review: Scissor Sis fans will want this!
Summary: 4 Stars

Unfortunately, Ta-Dah! didn't sell quite as much as their debut (even I was disappointed with it - at first), but over time things can grow on you and many of the songs off that album have done just that! It's a good album, and you really should pick it up. Lucky for you, there is a live cd included (all of the songs appeared on Ta-Dah, none of the earlier stuff featured on the dvd). The live performance is filmed in widescreen, using mostly wide lenses to capture everything, which is dazzling and colorful. Fans will like the stage design, with their signature logo prominently lit up.

Songs performed @ the O2 are as follows:

She's My Man. I Can't Decide. T(i)ts On The Radio. Laura. Lights. Skins. Contact High. Take Your Mama. Music Is The Victim. Might Tell You Tonight. The Other Side. Comfortably Numb. Kiss You Off. Paul McCartney. Land Of A Thousand Words. Filthy / Gorgeous. Mary. Return To Oz. I Don't Feel Like Dancin'.

The documentary section opens with some suspense: they're on their way to go on stage and get stuck in an elevator! The rest features an assortment of interviews and segments from the various (mostly European) media appearances promoting the new album. At one point, you get to see how the incredible video for "She's My Man" was filmed. You actually see the fully-lit single take it was shot in, replete with directions being spoken to them the whole time.

There's an intimate 25 minute acoustic set featuring: Lights. Land Of A Thousand Words. I Don't Feel Like Dancin'. She's My Man.
Pretty cool, and quite a contrast from what you're used to hearing.

Four music videos are included, all spectacularly filmed and edited (especially "Land Of A Thousand Words", which plays exactly like a classic James Bond opening credit sequence, and at an ultra-wide aspect ratio of 3:1!!).

You really get your money's worth with this dvd / cd combo and if you're a Sisters fan it's a must-have.

Movie Review: Funny Music DVD
Summary: 4 Stars

A disk I had acquired concludes a concert in London and Ta-Dah.
Well, a concert in London is better than a live performance a reviewer watched in Melbourne while Ta-Dah convinces surely in two things:
1. No show-success -if in show-industry only, is possible without some friendly hand
2. A front singer appendage is surely more impressive than those of a viewer. Solace for some: it means more pain suffering possible caused with kidney stones' rejecting in the future.

It is a funny music DVD with sexy stunts.

Movie Review: Fun for fans
Summary: 4 Stars

If you're a fan of the band or their music, this is a great DVD. It doesn't quite go as deep into the world of Scissor Sisters as you might like, but there's some fun backstage footage in the one-hour documentary and of course all the videos and songs are worth the price of admission. You get a glimpse of just how much work goes into being a successful band, but only a glimpse.
