Movie Reviews of House of WaxMovie Review: Oh my beautiful Marie Antoinette.... Summary: 5 Stars
This classic horror film was made in 1953. It stars Vincent Price as Jarrod, a wax sculptor. Jarrod's most precious works, included that of his beloved Marie Antoinette, were destroyed in a fire set by Jarrod's business partner for insurance purposes. The fire causes permanant damage to Jarrod's hands so he cannot create any more wax sculptures. But of course he finds a way... This also stars Carolyn Jones (most of us remember her as Morticia in The Addams Family) and Charles Bronson (given screen credit as Charles Buchinsky). Originally done in 3D.
The addition of the Mystery of the Wax Museum was an added bonus. The story line was the same, but it was done 20 years earlier. The eerie music adds to the effects of this great film, showing how earlier filmmakers had to rely on other methods to create horror. A great buy for any classic film buff or horror fanatic.
Movie Review: The Roof, The Roof, The Roof is on Fire.. (dvd features below) Summary: 5 Stars
We don't need no water let the mother fer burn said Vincent Price's partner in the unprofitable wax museum that he sets ablaze for the insurance money. The price of the insurance money is no match for Price's revenge which is priceless.
Prof. Henry Jarrod (Price), who was thought to be killed in the blaze was only badly burned and now wants to rebuild his wax museum with a little help from his friend (a jacked up, real life, Charlie Bronson named Igor), where art not only imitates life but also death.
This is a staple to any horror fans dvd collection and one of Price's best films and there are many. I've heard negative things about the transfer of this dvd but thought it to be very good.

Movie Review: Mystery Of The House Of Wax Summary: 5 Stars
This is a good murder mystery and one of the best works of the late great Vincent Price. But for me the highlight of this DVD is the inclusion of the original Mystery of The House Of Wax film. I love films from the 30's;the clothes, the sets and the atmosphere. In my opinion, this story is more effective from the perspective of the Great Depression. The heroine is a hyperactive young woman who works for the local newspaper and who plays the detective following a series of disappearances of corpses from the morgue. Threatened to lose her job in those hard times ,she plunges herself deeper into danger with only a handful of policemen and a lot of luck as her allies. I enjoyed very much Glenda Farrell's performance as the spunky journalist and her interactions with men, especially her boss. Highly recommended.
Movie Review: Unforgettable cult movie ! Summary: 5 Stars
Think about the immortality and preserve the memories of your beloved friends in wax , free of the corruption and decadence avoiding their bodies become in ashes . But the mistery will go beyond this naif premise . This horror vision feeds the inner thoughts of Vincent Price to built that wax museum
Andre de Toth a master in the suspense and supernatural facts faced this film with all the available effects in that age and the result (believe or not) was a little masterful gem.
This film has kept its status level through the years and seems improving with the years like the good wine.
Vincent Price made a tour de force acting with this . A must for any viewer. Watch to Charles Bronson as his loyal mude servant .
Movie Review: Great flick! Summary: 5 Stars
Has anyone ever portrayed the Nice Man Gone Crazy as well as Vincent Price? Of course not, and in House of Wax, Price is in top form as a loving sculptor who emerges from a fire with a different, errr, method for creating his wax sculptures. I don't know about you, but just the thought of being alone in a wax museum after dark gives me the creeps. Add a dose of homicidal mania, and there's your recipe for terror. Most people will find this movie creepy even today; those who love camp will enjoy the prolonged ping-pong paddle scene catered to the orginal 3-D audience. All in all, one of Vincent Price's best films, proving once again that nobody goes horribly insane quite like Vincent Price.
