Movie Reviews of House of 1,000 CorpsesMovie Review: A Strange and Twisted Horror Classic! Summary: 5 Stars
This is such a strange and bizzare movie! This is why i love it so much, it is so unlike any other horror movie i have ever seen, and I mean the plot isnt the most enriched, but still, i give all the credit to the wild and explosive shots, the color, the score, and the actors, TOP NOTCH! This movie is truly disturbing in the sense that it isn't so impossible for this to happen, and Rob Zombie takes all the percautions to make this movie as believable as possible, and if you truly think about it, this could happen to you, SO NEVER PICK UP HITCH HIKERS!
A group of teenagers are on there way home after a long journey across the country because of their idea about writing a book on all the fascinating things that you can see on the country side and rest stops. During a stormy halloween night, the group picks up a hitchhiker who takes them on a maddening whirlwind adventure into a heart pounding, nonstop, no bars hold action pack, violence explosive all creep out horror excursion!
Watch at your own risk. There violence is pervasive, and sometimes is quite graphic and sickening - there is also an abundance of nudity, no complete full frontal nudity, but many scenes in which woman are bare breasted.
Movie Review: Never Listen To Anyone Summary: 5 Stars
Well, "House" is anything but bad. Depraved, sadistic, colorful, fun as hell and near-perfectly timed, "House Of 1,000 Corpses" comes blasting at you in a way that no modern "horror" films do. It's campy, cheesy and very tongue in cheek on the surface but the underbelly is very disturbing and grotesque, despite being absolutely hilarious overall. The acting couldn't be better for a horror film and Sid Haig and Bill Moseley have the knack for making their characters come alive and make them believable.Overall, it bears similarity to the movies it's been compared to but in terms of overall feel, it reminds me mostly of Peter Jackson's classic zombie-gore fest "Dead Alive" in that the modern film techniques takes away from the creepiness factor but it delivers depravity and sickening fun in droves. After watching the film from beginning to end, I contend that had it been filmed in the 70s, complete with the film graininess and a chilling soundtrack throughout, "House" would have scared the flesh off of everyone who's seen it but modern technology makes it look almost cartoonish. However, don't let that draw you away from a film that is a blast to watch and at time, funny as one's sick sense of humor will allow.
Movie Review: Anyone Who doesn't like this movie ... Summary: 5 Stars
OKay, I was waiting for a long time among others to see this movie. Now i'm not the biggest fan of rob zombie's music but the guy can write a horror movie. How many "Good" horror movies are out there that hit theatres? "The Ring"? c'mon now that's a thriller... "Darkness Falls"?? that's just .... What happened to the old horror movies? the good ones.. The first couple of Halloweens? The Nightmare on elm streets before they got really silly? That's not even mentioning some of the "B" horror flicks out there. What rob Zombie accomplishes in this film will hopefully save the horror genre. It's funny! It's not gory gory... But violent enough to keep the gore kids happy.. And the plot is so [messed] up and that's just how it should be. "Horror" has evolved into something not even worth watching anymore. House of 1000 Corpses brings it back where it should have stayed. Sid Haig is the man and Karen Black is great. thy are all great. C'mon you're not Ebert and Roeper.. Don't look nto this movie so seriously.. It's a great film that we all needed... So stop your whining...and just enjoy.. there may never be another one like it... Great Job Rob Z.! I hope you keep makin' em! ~C.C.
Movie Review: Tornin2's reveiw of House of 1000 Corpses Summary: 5 Stars
An incredible homage to the 70's Texas Chainsaw Massacre style slasher flicks, which currently bombard of visual cortex in the multiplex, but all fall far short when compared to House of 1000 corpses.
We follow a group of young kids wondering across America looking for the unusuall and macabre sights along the way. When they get wind of the mystrey of Dr. Satan, they decide to investigate. After meeting an array of intresting characters, from a clown with a murder ride, to a psycho who turns people into oddities, they have to fight for they're lives.
Being director Rob Zombies first feature, I find it a massive leap in the quality of horror films. He is able to build tension and show his own stylistic approach to the characters, with out beeing over run and conveluded by MTV style editing, as in the recent Bruckheimer Texas Chainsaw Massacre Remake. Speaking of TCM, one of the more memerable characters is that of Otis, played by Bill Mosley. Mosley is most remembered as Chop Top in the Texas Chainsaw Massacre Two.
In the end, I say, don't walk, but run out and get this movie... if you dare, cause it'll scare the Sh!# out of you!
Movie Review: No Halloween will be complete without this. Summary: 5 Stars
Rob Zombie is going to be next in a list of great horror film directors. Lets face it, he is creative. This film is a wonderful explosion of colors, lights, sounds and visuals. You can just see how ambitious this film is. Rob Zombie set out to make a great horror film and you can tell he poured his heart into it. He has obviously been influenced by "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" but by viewing this you can also tell that he has a deep appreciation for 1970's cheese, Aurora monster models, old issues of Creepy Magazine and obscure horror films. The film has a great pace and really good look to it. It also contains a trait that is important to horror films that has been lacking for some time, A sense of humour. You can actually be grossed out and have a great time with this instant classic. It is basically like going to a haunted house with a group of friends at Halloween time. The make-up and visuals are top notch and will satisfy any horror film fan. I look forward to seeing more from Rob Zombie in the directors chair. I really believe that he will achieve significant status. Hats off to you Rob.
