Movie Reviews of House of 1,000 CorpsesMovie Review: Exactly What A Horror Movie Should Be Summary: 5 Stars
I saw "House" countless times in the theatre, and snatched it up imediatly when it was released to DVD. The only reason I'm writing this review is because it seems as though people don't get it. Yes, "House" is alot like "TCM", hell, the lead villain (Otis)played "Chop-Top" in "TCM2". Yes, the movie is over the top, I won't dispute that either. The whole point to this movie, the only point if you ask me is that this is 100% horror. This is exactly what a horror movie is supposed to be. Horror isn't supposed to be PG-13 where all the heroes make it home in time for supper. Just because you used up two truck loads worth of fake blood in your movie doesn't mean it's good. No, you're supposed to be uneasy, the lead characters don't nescassarily make it out okay & there should defiantely never be a happy ending. Rob Zombie and the rest of the iconic cast did exactly what they set out to do, they made a movie that not only scares the pants off of you, but successfully made an homage to the horror greats of the past. Everything right down to the camera work just works in this movie, and just when you think you know whats going on BOOM something new comes along, it's great. This is one of(if not the)BEST horror movies made in the last 20 years, anyone that doesn't understand what a masterpiece this is needs to watch more horror than just "I know What You Did Last Summer" & "The Boogeyman". If you want a truely disturbing movie, this is it. No, there aren't any soaking wet, dead, little Japanese girls, no it's not PG-13, yes, you will love every last minute.
Movie Review: I'm a sinic!!! Summary: 5 Stars
I am a massive sinic when it comes to movies and it is EXTREMELY RARE for me to give me endorsement to anything! Yet, I gladly endorse this movie with all my disembowled organs. It's been a long time since I experienced genuine adrenaline from a movie. It's been a long time time since I was truly absorbed by a film. It's been too long since last time I was actually scared by a movie. House of 1000 corpses changed all this for me... I feel refreshed, I feel reborn... I have new found motivation in life... and all simply because I have witnessed a piece of art, a genuine creation, that has replaced my faith in human kind.
If what I'm saying seems over the top or insane then you obviously haven't seen the film. All I can say is that it made me a better person. I no longer believe that the majority of human beings living on this planet are inept because I have witenessed first hand evidence to the contrary!
I used to believe that the only way to achieve the state of mind that I am descending from at this point in time was to consume illicit substances, but I have been proven wrong. I have been a goody - straight shoes for several years now, and this movie has shown me that there is more to life than "mystical" or "spiritual"
experiences, particularly those induced by chemicals.
EVERY OPEN MINDED PERSON MUST WATCH THIS FILM.
I have no hesitation or ulterior motive in presenting that statement.
Watch.
Watch.
Watch.
One of the BEST FILMS I have EVER (EVER) seen!!!!!!!!

Movie Review: House of 1000 Corpses Summary: 5 Stars
Rob Zombie makes his directorial debut in the film that critics tore to shreds. I can see how it's misunderstood, it's chopped and diced --- but done with brilliance. The film is both terrifying and hilarious. This film will be appreciated in years to come, due to the shortage in vintage horror films (i.e- Texas Chainsaw Massacre) and how toned down horror films have been made lately. The film involves two teenage couples who are stuck out in the sticks and out of gas (I know this sounds cliched). The couple end up at a little gas station/museum ran by a psycho clown by the name Captain Spaulding. The museum isn't a museum, it's a house of horror's. The young couple takes the tour and are soon on there way to hell. The horror house is made up of the likes of Ed Gein and 'Doctor Satan,' a local serial-killer. Soon after the tour the group trys to find the legendary Doctor Satan. But along the way the group finds their car quitting and having to find refuge in a house occupied by a hiker they picked up (and her psychopathic family). What they soon find out is that Doctor Satan isn't a legend, he's the ring-leader of this Manson family. The DVD itself is worth an extra look. First up, is the audio commentary by director Rob Zombie. It's worth listening to. The deleted scenes are pretty good as well. But the gem of the DVD is the interactive menu. The menu has Captain Spaulding, talking foul-mouthed trash at the viewer. This is priceless. If you loved such cult-classics as 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre' and 'Motel Hell' then, please --- DON'T MISS THIS!
Movie Review: Sex! Death!....and Clowns?! Summary: 5 Stars
Well now! This is definitely something different! Rob Zombie has fashioned a gen-u-ine 1970's horror film! What makes this film work,is it's general "low budget" look. Everyone's costuming looks like clothes from home, the film locations look like someone's ranch, and the actors don't exactly seem like they are acting. ( And Sid Haig....I am convinced You never ever remove the clown paint!). This film is fun and creepy and scarey, and best of all....not 100% P-R-E-D-I-C-T-A-B-L-E! Rob Zombie borrows liberally from all sorts of old B-Grade Horror films, but more as a tribute than a rip off,of all of those "spam in a cabin" flicks.Four young kids stumble into a world of hurt when they cross roads with the Firefly Family, and they get everything but the kitchen sink thrown at them! Zombies,Cannibals,Medical Experiments Gone Wrong,Preverts, Incestuous Hillbillies,Murderers,Psychos,Demon Worshippers, Clowns,Masked Gunmen,Horror Show Hosts,Bunny Costumes....and Michael J.Pollard! HOO-WEE!! The DVD extras are fun as Capt.Spaulding,Otis & Baby lead you throgh the menus ( Let them run, they talk for awhile, especially Capt.Spaulding on the opening menu.).There are also 3 "Easter Eggs" ( click around on the menu pages ). The only thing not here is the "directors version",which was rumored as being released. Anywho...if you want a good frightening....Rob Zombie and Company have got you covered! ( And I'm not just saying that because Dr.Satan may or may not be my Uncle.( Mama's kinda hush-hush about that. )
