Movie Reviews of House, M.D.: Season Five

Movie Review: House is Genius
Summary: 5 Stars

I was slightly hesitant to buy this season of House. Having absolutely LOVED seasons 1, 2, and 3 of House (all of which i recommend, and 3 is probably the best of those), i saw a few episodes of season 4 on tv and decided it had gotten bad. i dont know if i was fully right about season 4, because i never bought it and i never saw many episodes on tv.

But this fifth season of House is pure genius. I might even call it better. Honestly, hugh laurie proves in every episode why he won his Emmy, why his show is one of the most watched on television, and why no one else could possibly have been as perfect for this role as he is.

This show is
SO funny
SO clever
SO well written
SO interesting, and
SO absorbing.

Both Sides Now, the last episode of the season, is quite possibly the best episode i have ever seen on House. And that is saying something. i won't ruin it, but it is pure genius.

The show, as always, centers around house. all of the best storylines focus on house, because he's truly the most interesting character. but that does not mean any other actors or characters on this show are slack. i think the producers have done a fantastic job of bringing in great actors, mind blowingly great storylines, great drama, and great humor in this season.

HIGHLY recommended. You will want to own this season.

Movie Review: I keep wanting to give it 6 Stars!
Summary: 5 Stars

A one-of-a-kind series, House, M.D.: Season 5 brings to the screen more everyday encounters of a team of doctors at the Diagnostics department of the Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital in New Jersey under the supervision of Dr. Gregory House.
Hugh Laurie, Jennifer Morrison, Jesse Spencer, Omar Epps, Lisa Edelstein, Robert Sean Leonard, and the rest of this EXTRAORDINARY cast, have truly outdone themselves with their performances, which are outstanding to say the least. All the actors, without exceptions, give it their 100% and it really shows (the chemistry is AMAZING)! Very well written and very well presented, the series is without a doubt guaranteed to provide more than just a few thrills, not to mention a few laughs and tears. House, M.D. does a great job of describing people's different personalities, fears, and the problems they face. It is all about life, death, human relations, hope, pain, and inner strength.
The acting, the setting, the plot (and subplots), the dialogues, and the music (!) are just wonderful! It is indeed a rarity when an amazing series such as this comes by.
In short, House, M.D. is a series definitely worth watching and one to seriously consider adding to your movie collection (if you haven't done so already)! KEEP'EM COMING!!!

Movie Review: Holy HOUSE!!
Summary: 5 Stars

Okay I have been in love with the House series since it started! I love everything about it. I just have to say that this season was amazing! And I would like to point out a few things after skimming some other reviews... which should just be called stupid whigning!

- The BluRay thing: Okay who the flying F cares about the season being BluRay or not. Your reviews are based on the season and hopefully the content. And besides how many TV series are on BluRay. Do you have any idea how much it would cost to do both and considereing the average TV season can cost upwards of $30 do you honestly think anybody who collects TV series want to spend what...maybe $100 for one season!! Let me think...hmm NO!!
- The new team versus the old team. Okay take a look at the cover. House's original fellows are still on the front and the new ones are on the back! And besides they are featured a lot more in this season than they were last season.
- The out thereness. Did you actually watch the show!! There is a reason things got that way! Really the end of this season had to top last season. I think it did that very well.

Overall this is probably the best season of House that I have seen. I can't wait til the new season comes out.

Movie Review: Great acting, with some reservations
Summary: 5 Stars

As in previous seasons there is some really great acting in Season five. The House and Wilson characters develop further and their character traits continue to compliment each other and give rise to a lot of interesting dramatic situations (some quite humorous).

Unfortunately, the episodes are also sprinkled with the usual sexual innuendo and supposed provocativeness that mars many of the earlier seasons. This is flaw with which the writers seem enamored. On the positive side it doesn't seem to be getting worse (as it often does with a series that is running out of ideas). On balance I can live with the provocation (provided it doesn't worsen) but can't recommend the series to teenagers or younger. Nevertheless, House MD remains one of the best acted, best written, and intriguing TV series despite its flaws.

A medical friend says he can't watch House MD because the medical information is so far fetched. I believe him as the stories resolve themselves so seamlessly the medical conditions and diagnoses have to be fictionalized. But to the layman the plots unfold in a believable fashion (ignorance is bliss I guess).

Movie Review: Happily Addicted
Summary: 5 Stars

I don't have regular television, and only began watching House on DVD just this past year. I initially rented season 1 on DVD because of the critical acclaim. After the first disc finished, I was as addicted to House as House is to Vicodin. This is a series to buy and view again and again, and I have since viewed the first 4 seasons in less than a month's time and am most anxiously awaiting the release of season 5. Buying the DVDs means I can at least get a dose of previous seasons while waiting for season 5.

Having viewed the entire series to date in such a short period of time, I too have detected a shift in the series, but I see this as a growth of the character and a fearless choice to stretch the boundaries. Given the essence of House's character, how could the show itself do otherwise and remain true to itself and to it's namesake? I say Bravo! and keep it going. There's way too much "safe" programing out there, and don't let them do to House what they've done to other exceptionally smart, edgy programs (i.e. Arrested Development). Here's looking forward to season 5, 6, 7,. . .
