Not really a review so much as a recollection . . .
I was searching for an item, hot dog party lights, a white elephant gift that got passed around for years at my office before the boss got fired and we all left for other companies. So now, every time I return to Amazon, an image of the movie cover comes up.
I saw this movie in the theaters when I was 17. It was my first R rated movie that I went to without a being "accompanied by a parent or guardian."
I still remember coming home from the theater that night. My Canadian friend who's father had just gotten transfered from Ontario to Ohio dropped me off. When we went in the house, my Mom started grilling me about what we went and saw. I told her "Hot Dog". She replies, "what are you doing going to an R-rated movie like that?" (or something to that effect - hell it was 22 years ago). I quickly came back with, "but Mom, I'm 17!"
There was nothing but stunned silence. It was such sweet silence. I still remember the look on her face. It was absolutely priceless.
And Shannon Tweed, what a way to lose one's R-rated virginity!
The acting was bad, the laughs were good, but Shannon Tweed was better. I still remember with a smirk the guy acting like he wasn't going to touch her the second night in the hotel and Tweed saying "Oh no you don't" when he acted like he was going to fall asleep, then jumping his bones.
I really need to see this movie again, just for the nostalgia.
Movie Review: Finally!! I thought I'd never see this on DVD

Hot Dog, the Movie.. Best good time ski movie, period. I wore out the VHS tape watching this one. After watching it about 200 times, I confess it is not a grand hollywood masterpiece, but it is a classic in its own right, a one of a kind. It is absolutely a must see every ski season, not to mention it has more quotable lines then the godfather...
I can't wait to see Harkin "snake legs" Banks tear up the moguls, Dan make his 'leg spreader", Squirrel take his gondola ride cocktail, and Rudy have his breakfast 'sunny side up, sunny side down... ', and how can I forget, Sylvia's ski pointers.
If DVD's can burn out, I am sure this one will.
