Movie Reviews of HostageMovie Review: Double your hostage, double your action Summary: 4 Stars
Another dark drama that makes no pretense
Of having a plotline that makes any sense
With two hostage stories, it's double the action
Depending on violence to get your reaction
Bruce Willis does "anguish", the thing he does best
But the acting shouts "B" for most of the rest
He once lost a hostage and retired from the fray
Preferring to sit at his desk every day
But as fate would have it, some punks cross his path
And it blows up real quick when a cop feels their wrath
They hold the Smiths hostage, the alarm system sucks
The stakes get much higher when they find some big bucks
And wouldn't you know it, the Dad is a crook
By creative accounting, not quite by the book
He's hidden some files under "Heaven Can Wait"
And organized crime is now storming the gate
The punks are in shambles, they're out of their league
They're making mistakes out of greed and fatigue
But Bruce has no choice, he can't put it aside
His wife and his daughter are kidnapped and tied
The ending's predictable, violent and gory
A typical, everyday action-man story
With fiery effects and slow motion also
As a rental, this movie is packaged to go.

Movie Review: Good B movie Summary: 4 Stars
Nothing really original here... Bruce Willis plays a hostage
negotiator that fails to save a young boy and his mother, and
decides to move out to a safe little town and become a small
town sheriff. What happens? You guessed it... He runs into the
same type of things that he ran away from in the big city.
The film takes you think a ride of action and over the top
drama... It does enough to keep you interested despite the
fact that it is not really believable. It's pretty well
acted considering what it is... The action is good of course,
and some of the chacters are interesting such as the deranged Mars....
The problem is that some things just doesn't make sense.. Like
how the 3 teens so easily get by the high teck alarm system?
Also, I think we should have seen more from the family.. It's
hard to feel anything for the some of the chacters when they
aren't together long enough. These things could have been
fixed... But it's like they wanted to cut right to the action
and drama.
As a B movie it gets 4 stars... Other than that, it is only
worth 3. Take it for what it is... A good b movie with holes
in the plot.
Movie Review: A very curious thriller! Summary: 4 Stars
From time to time, it seems quite hard to find original schemes in what hard thrillers concern. This one establishes from the first admirable shot, the somber perspective of a tragic decision that will become in a stigma for Bruce Willis. Your marriage has too many lows and additionally his young daughter crosses over the delicate stage of adolescence.
Three losers: Each own with a determined profile, decide to cross the line, but the things begins to blow against them and suddenly a true catastrophic mess will surround them with fatal consequences.
The tension levels and the different dramatic clues are extremely well articulated, with wondrous angle shots and memorable traveling, that will conform a dense and easy going thriller that works out with magnificent synchronization. The power conflicts, the personal fears of our urban hero, his fears for his family will be main factors of this kinetic and frenetic story with predictable results but made with admirable resolution.
Movie Review: A solid action movie Summary: 4 Stars
With DIE HARD 4 on the horizon, HOSTAGE boasts not just great action, but a great dramatic performance from action superstar Bruce Willis (SIN CITY, DIE HARD, THE SIXTH SENSE, ARMAGEDDON and PULP FICTION) who looks better here than previous movies. With sharp pacing, director Florent Emilio Siri makes sure the film dosn't start repeating itself, and the energetic score infuses a thrilling sense of excitement. If it has a flaw, several scenes are somewhat cliche, but directors these days moan about how difficult it really is to make a great, original action movie. Fair enough, ever since The 39 Steps action thrillers have been more challenging. Building up to a gripping climax, every performance really nails the action staple. It might not be Die Hard 4, but it's one of those great action movies that make audiences remember why you go to the cinema. An excellent film which excelled my expectations and proved that you don't need slo-mo effects or a bucket load of CGI to make a great movie.
Movie Review: A very good film Summary: 4 Stars
If you're looking for a action thriller that will keep your a** on the edge of your seat then check Hostage out.
The film starts with a hostage situation that goes very wrong, devastated by the failed hostage situation Jeff Talley played by Bruce Willis transfers himself to no profile job as chief of police in a small town soon later 3 delinquent teenagers who follow a family home so they can steel their car but it gets out of hand and turns into a hostage situation but there's more to it than they all know.
Hostage is a suspenceful action film with plenty of good moments in the film, think of this film as Die Hard meets Panic Room, the cast do a damn good job a special mention should go to Ben Foster who plays a very convinceing nutter you'll see what I mean when you watch it.
I highly reconmend this film to anyone who's looking for a action thriller that will keep you on edge.
