Movie Reviews of HostageMovie Review: What's your best day? Summary: 5 Stars
This movie was way better than I expected. I have always been a big fan of Bruce Willis and Ben Foster, but I didn't really have any high expectations for this one. I, of course, expected Bruce Willis to be good because that's what he does. But, Ben Foster blew me away with his performance. He is so good at being bad. You want to hate him, but he plays on our abilities to sympathize with a character because (as we are led to believe so many times) all he needs is love so well that you end up with an ambiguous feeling towards him. You know you should hate him, but you just can't. The action just keeps coming and Mars (Foster) becomes sort of an invincible, can't-keep-your-eyes-off-him character. The movie wraps up fairly quickly, but the lead up is great. This movie is just brutal enough and it keeps you on the edge. I fully recommend this, if only for the stellar performance offered by Foster!
Movie Review: Most underrated movie of the past four years Summary: 5 Stars
I went and saw this movie in theaters because I saw Bruce Willis was in it, and it seemed good. I see my fair share of movies, and had never seen any preview for this film. I immediately LOVED it. I purchased it as soon as it came to DVD, and seeing it on Universal HD channel last night, and reminding me how good it really is, motivated me to come on here and write this review. I believe the downfall of this movie was insufficient marketing, but overall this is a well-acted, action-packed movie that takes place in one of my favorite parts of the country - mountainous southern California (which I believes add to the nostalgic attraction I have towards this movie).
Overall, very good film, severely underrated, and if anyone wants a good Bruce Willis flick with a twisty, interesting plot and an eerie soundtrack, see Hostage.
Movie Review: I loved it... Summary: 5 Stars
The reason why this film works so well goes far beyond the action and suspense at face value. Each character brings a unique element -- his own emotional and psychological baggage -- and uses those memories as motivation for their actions. The viewer has to decide with whom to take sides and also understand that this film is dynamic, ever-changing. It is thrilling, captivating, and well-rehearsed (SWAT consultants were brought to share their expertise during the filming process). I felt as though Bruce Willis really was fighting an internal battle of saving hostages for the sake of protecting his own family, which ultimately made him the hero of the film. I have a feeling most people will like this movie because it appeals to the masses, and (no offense) it does not require a post-graduate education to follow the plot.
Movie Review: Great Willis Action Movie Summary: 5 Stars
Wow. Right from the start of the movie, this movie is simply amazing. Even from the first scene when Bruce has to rescue a boy and the child's mom from a crazy man and it doesn't end so pleasantly. Everyone in this film is excellent. You really hate the bad guys of this movie and want them to get arrested or worse so badly. That means that these actors are really great to pull that emotion out of someone watching. It shows that there are young actors in Hollywood that can act. Willis is gives a great performance, as usual, as the hero of the film. The only downside to this movie is that it does have a couple of slow parts, but not many. Recommended to Bruce Willis fans for sure
Movie Review: A complete movie Summary: 5 Stars
Wow! I'm not sure how they did it, but they managed to pack in two 5-star villians who don't have anything to do with each other into the mix. And two heros, Bruce Willis' character and the little boy.
Action, check. Music score, check. Sound effects, check. Make up and blood, check. Fire, oh yeah, plenty of it. Gunshots galore. Acting, ya it's there. Just look at Bruce Willis' face, it says it all.
I won't spoil any of the story, but if you're into movies with hostage situations, this one's for you. From a psychotic troubled youth killer to a cold, calculating mastermind, there's enough to keep you watching. One of Bruce Willis' finest, guaranteed.
