Movie Reviews of Horror of Dracula

Movie Review: The fabulous sum of fortunate events!
Summary: 5 Stars

Terence Fisher directed this outstanding picture supported by the best and most reminded Dracula in the cinema story -Christopher Lee-as the Count and Van Helsing featured by Peter Cushing. The excellent reworking of Bram Stoker ` s classic story has never been best expressed on the screen. A genuine classic and with all security the best entry of the multiple versions.

We should expect for most of thirty years for the hallucinating and very personal approach of Coppola , but despite of the fact of so many technological devices and admirable performances there are certain details (the presence of Keanu Reeves simply did not fit at all and it was a serious default), and the excesive overindulgent treatment that weakens seriously the main character, and definitively is far to reach this legendary achievement.

Movie Review: Still the best Dracula film ever
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the film that in my opinion displaced the 1931 Universal version as the best ever.Hammers rendition of Dracula is perfect. Chris Lee was far better than Lagosi in the role of the bloodsucking count. The visual scenery was stuning at the time this film was made (at a low to moderate budget). When I seen this film as a young lad in 1959 it scared the crap out of me. Although Hammers ground breaking "heaving breasts" displayed by the Vamp trying to get a drink from Johnathan Harkers throat was intersting to say the least. The classic chase of Dracula by Van Helsing to his lair in the end was unforgetable to me to this day almost 50 years later.A hell of a ending to say the least. Hammer studio well deserves the reputation for producing the best horror films in the late 50's-70's era. Their films were classics indeed.

Movie Review: AS GOOD AS IT GETS......
Summary: 5 Stars

First-rate Hammer treatment of "Dracula" and literally where it all began for the famous British studio. Warner Bros. presents it finally on DVD and it looks and sounds splendid in widescreen. This shows why Christopher Lee was matchless as the undead count and Peter Cushing was the ideal choice for the unflappable Van Helsing and so many "sequels" were spawned in it's wake. Some were good but this is the real thing. Only fault---the back cover of the snap case features a shot of Stephanie Beacham from "Dracula A.D.-1972"!!! This glaringly stupid error will anger some fans and no doubt confuse those seeing this for the first time. However, the goods are fine and the music intact with that unmistakeable Hammer sound. A bloody good show all the way around. Gobble this up before it disappears from the shelves.

Movie Review: One Of The Best Hammer Films Ever Made
Summary: 5 Stars

This is what got me hooked on Hammer Studios although I thought that this did not follow the novel really good. Overall this is a good Hammer Movie i saw this when I was 6 and it scared me Peter Cushing does great as Professor Lawrence Van Helsing in their first battle of cat and mouse however Van Helsing is shown at the opening credits of Dracula A.D. 1972 the 6th one in the long running hammer series Battling the count one last time before he dies. Christopher Lee is the Best Dracula ever this spawned 7 sequels. the sequel Brides of Dracula - 1960 which does not feature Lee's Dracula but brings back Professor Van Helsing fighting of a Diciple of the count good enough lee returns to the role in Dracula:Prince Of Darkness which is a better sequel to this get this you will like it

Movie Review: Drac Gets Hammered...
Summary: 5 Stars

Christopher Lee is Dracula, cool and wolf-like, bearing his razor-sharp canines as he mesmerizes the ladies! Peter Cushing is Van Helsing, the expert nosferatu-hunter, bent on Dracula's total annihilation. Together, they are the negative / positive poles of this gothic tale of bloodletting and possession by Hammer studios. The screenplay turns the original Stoker novel inside-out with excellent results. I had expected to hate it, but ended up enjoying HORROR OF DRACULA more than most vampire epics. Michael Gough (Batman, Sleepy Hollow) is perfect as the suspicious husband of Mina and brother of Lucy, who both succumb to the Count's alluring gaze and sinister bite. Can he help Van Helsing to destroy Dracula before he destroys them? Watch and see! Highly recommended...
