Movie Reviews of HooperMovie Review: An interesting period piece. Summary: 3 Stars
I enjoyed watching this film again. I think the important thing to understand is that Burt represents the hard drinking, pill popping, reckless way of the "old school" stunt man, where as Jan Michael Vincent represents the non-drinking, non pill popping, cool ways of the "new school" stunt man...... and taken in that context the movie's rather blatant excesses become more relevant.
Obviously filmed on a rather limited budget, the stunts aren't spectacular, but still fun none-the-less. It's too bad this is only available in the full screen version.
Sally Field is exceedingly cute in this film and worth the price of admission!
Not a great film, but a fun film and worth a couple of bucks.
Movie Review: What kind of convention? A convention of a-holes? Summary: 3 Stars
Great flick! I don't have much to say that hasn't been already (I loved the "one man Rat Pack" line!). This film is like a party; everyone seems to be in on some kind of joke (they're all obviously friends, part of the Reynolds/Needham gang). On top of that, they appear to be mildly drunk much of the time!
I too would love to see a special edition of this flick. There used to be a TV version that had a ton of extra footage, so I know it's out there someplace.
Movie Review: Mostly Fun Summary: 3 Stars
This is typical Burt Reynolds fun stuff with a typically goofy plot and some pretty cool stunts. Terry Bradshaw is good in it, and fans of Sally Field will enjoy her in the various mini T-shirts she wears, lot's of good beer-chugging type stuff. Not quite as awesome as I thought it was at 12 years old though, when everthing Burt said or did seemed so much more entertaining. The DVD is thin on extras but it's only 10 bucks, so what do you want?
Movie Review: Reynolds is a one man Rat Pack Summary: 3 Stars
I saw Hooper in the theater when I was about 9 years old. It is still just as corny as I remember. In all honesty, the movie isn't very good. What was the biggest surprise, was how good the movie looked on DVD. The original print must have been in great shape, because I doubt a lot of money was spent restoring this one. Anyway... pop open a Coors and sit back and enjoy Burt in his prime.
