Movie Reviews of HookMovie Review: Dustin Hoffman sparkles with courage Summary: 5 Stars
Dustin Hoffman's performance here gives further credence to his elite and legendary status as the industry's most celebratedely vacuous actor. It puts him in the rarified air that's also occupied by national treasures: Kevin Spacey, Hugh Grant, Tommy Lee Jones and Denzel Washington.
This film is also testament to the misunderstood and miscompensated talents of Robin Williams and Steve Spielberg. If there's a lesson here it's that simply putting together an "all-star" cast guarantees nothing. Julia Roberts is horribly miscast as a nice entity.
Movie Review: Still great Summary: 5 Stars
I can still remember the day before New Year's Eve when I was in fourth grade. One of my friends wanted to take me to see a movie and I desperately wanted to see Hook. Those two and a half hours were magic for me way back then, and they still are. The acting is brilliant, the direction wonderful, and the music surprisingly powerful for a fairy tale. When I first saw Peter gain his happy thought and fly out of that tree, I wanted to jump up and scream, "I knew you could do it!" And you know what? I'm 18 now, and I still feel like doing that.
Movie Review: Hooked on HOOK Summary: 5 Stars
If you grew up with Peter Pan and are Panned Out, give this movie a chance. You won't regret it.
If you say Peter who? See this movie!
Robin Williams takes us on a roller coaster from high comedy to serious acting.
Music: John Williams in great form. Lots of fun in this score as John Williams pens yet another materpiece. John Williams seems to only compose for great movies and this is no exception.
Highly recommended for all ages. Just plain fun!
5-Stars
Movie Review: The Adult Peter Pan is GREAT! Summary: 5 Stars
I love this movie. Robin Williams is almost always a sure bet and in "Hook" he does not disappoint. The premise of the movie works really well. Peter Pan has come back to the real world and grown up. He's forgotton all about Neverland and become a corporate shark. His children are kidnapped and taken to Neverland and Peter has to figure out how to get them back. Through the course of the movie, he reqains his memories and relearns what's truly important. This movie works for both adults and children.
Movie Review: The best thing to happen to Pan since flying Summary: 5 Stars
Hook is such a great movie. It also stays true with the originality of Pan.
-Clapping to bring Tinkerbell back to life
-The Lost Boys (the twins)
-Wendy wanting the "night lights" to protect the children
-The crocodile, and many more...
This was such a great concept to bring the modern audience and expose children to the idea of Peter Pan and his story. The acting here is great and the entire film is a great experience. It's good to know what happened when Peter grew up.
