Movie Review: a hip hop dance music-movie that makes you feel good
Summary: 5 Stars
Sure the movie is an easy target for stereotypes and too much optimism, but that what films are supposed to be. Fiction, not reality. Honey is a feel good movie about hip hop dancing. Honey is a black hispanic girl who works in a music store, as a bartender and a hip hop class teacher who wants to be discovered in the music industry. After being in a music video and choreographing several of them, she realizes she doesn't have time for her family and friends and finally quits after her boss tries to make a move on her. She wanted the neighborhood kids who had awesome dance moves to be in a video of hers too but after they couldn't, she decides to buy a dance studio after the community centre where she used to teach is being torn down and wants to raise money at a charity concert for it. The characters are all unique and beautiful in their own way, and have a vibrant personality and it's a very friendly, uplifting movie. If you like music and dance you are sure to enjoy this movie in addition to music-movie classics from the 70's and 80's(no GLITTER WTF are some of you talking about? LOL ), especially for the youth who could learn lots of dancing from the choreography in this movie. Also there are guest appearances from r&b/hip hop stars like jadakiss, ginuwine, missy elliot, lil romeo and tweet which were highlights of the film. Definitely check it out today if you like watching movies that put you in a great mood. If you're a serious person who chooses not to see the positive in life, then this movie isn't for you though I guarantee you might like it.
