Movie Reviews of Home for the HolidaysMovie Review: What a riot...too true to not laugh Summary: 5 Stars
Part of what makes this film so funny is the fact that we've ALL been there. Filled with clever, witty dialouge, this film is a nice switch from the sophMORONic movies that beat you over the head with their childish pranks and predictable (and unfunny) jokes (watch 'Me, Myself and Irene' if you need a refresher course in stupidity). Anyone that can sit through this film and not appreciate it and laugh out loud, must be totally void of any sense of humor. I have seen this film about a hundred times and I still laugh. Get this and enjoy it for yourself.
Movie Review: The best yet. Summary: 5 Stars
Classic film- the reality of "fun" in dysfunction. The most realistic moment in this film is the stark, all to real, dead silence the morning after Thanksgiving when Adele announces: "I'm putting up my coffee if anybody cares." It's amazing how the house can be even more depressing after that dinner, but then you understand why a filled house (of any kind) means so much to Adele. Her best line is: "But then we have to do it again because they put ____ (expletive) Christmas right behind." Charles Durning is amazing here.
Movie Review: A cool movie that gets better with repeated viewings. Summary: 5 Stars
The first time I saw this movie, I didn't really care for it that much -- I think that I really didn't know what to expect. But then I later saw it on video, with a better idea of what I was going to see, and I loved it. I was excited to see that it has finally been released on DVD. I've always been a big fan of Jodie Foster, and it's great to have her commentary track on this disc. She's such and intelligent, eloquent person that hearing her talk about the movie really adds to the experience.
Movie Review: a big movie for an huge actress and director Summary: 5 Stars
The film is a very good family movie. The family development of a family with children of 30 years old when everything is not following an traditional path. However are the family feelings very well represented with a lot of humour and sincerity.
With a famous sentence "to be a familiy doesn't mean we alle like each other" this Thanksgiving week end is a beautiful creation about family love and complexity of life.
The first film of Jodie Foster as an director... Chapeau!
Movie Review: A Family Frenzy Summary: 5 Stars
If you're looking to get into a serious after movie discussion don't rent this. But if you want to laugh and be reminded that your disfunctional family is actually like everyone elses, this is the movie for you. This was almost like coming home to my own Thanksgiving which always turns out to be the worst day of the year and arguably why my family is in so much therapy. This is the holiday movie for the 21st century. BUY IT!!! Oddly it's a pick me up after a bad day.
