Movie Reviews of Highlander - EndgameMovie Review: Finally! A sequal worthy of the original. Summary: 5 Stars
My one and only gripe is that the villan wasn't nearly as powerful as the theatrical trailers once purported him to be. That aside though, this is one movie that no Highlander should be without. The addition of 12 minutes of footage really made this movie a lot better than the theatrical release (which was admittedly a bit of a disapointment). The new ending in particular was a very welcome emotional pick me up compared to the theatrical "I'm still depressed they killed (insert spoiler here)." There have been criticisms of continuity problems between this movie, the series and the movie. Well, that just goes without saying since the first movie ended with the gathering. The series itself doesn't even hold to the movie continuity. If they're ever going to make another Highlander movie, of course they will necesserilly have to ignore the last ten or so minutes of the first movie. Take it in stride and enjoy it. The extras included on this set are also worth a look at. A choice of three quizes can challenge even the most fanatical Highlander fan. A second full length cut is also cool. It's the same story, yet so diferant. It's always interesting seeing some of the decisions a producer goes through making a movie. There's many more special features than can be listed here. But between those and the movie itself, Highlander Endgame is definetaly worth the pickup. Don't forget to find those easter eggs!
Movie Review: Just Like the Tv show Summary: 5 Stars
Look, most people that saw this movie were critics that dubbed the original Highlander movie "the worst movie of 1986." But even non-Highlander fans loved the original movie. You do not trust a critic with a Highlander film. What most people dont understand is that Highlander 1 and 3 were the only two films that truly connected. They both ended with Conner Macleod being the last immortal. If you watch Highlander 2, dont try to compare it to the other films. The series is based on a totally different character named Duncan Macleod and has Conner Macleod in it also. But it is a separate story! People keep trying to connect all of the films and the series together. It does not work that way. Keeping that in mined, Highlander Endgame is like a 2 parter of the series. It shows just how good Adrian Paul and Christoper Lambert are as actors. This movie made me extreamly sad when i walked out of the theater. But i felt satisfied. The world of immortals is not a happy one. Highlander Endgame does not have a happy ending. But it is still a good ending that makes it worth watching. Word of the wise, if you have never seen The original Highlander, watch it before you watch this movie. It wouldent hurt to watch some of the series also. The best Highlander movie is the original one. But this movie is still worth watching. Enjoy the movie and watch it with an open mind.
Movie Review: Amazingly epic, amazingly cool!!!!! Summary: 5 Stars
ATTENTION,SPOILER INCLUDED:
One of my favourite movies,no doubt.A well-skilled director(although some scenes are quite clumpsy directed),Christopher Lambert at his best, and an epic but also cool plot. The martial arts are great too,and so is the music.
Unfortuently, the movie lacks in the acting part-the main good guys are great, but I found the bad guy and the Wactcher too ''angry''.But who knows, maybe it's the director's fault, maybe he told them to act that way.
I would also like to correct a wrong essay about this film, which I believe it must be corrected if you want to make the right desicion to buy this film or not.
THIS IS THE SPOILING PART.
What is said by many about this movie is that the Game ends, leaving the character of Adrian Paul(don't remeber his name right now!) as the last Immortal. That is completely wrong. The movie gives you no such information.Adrian Paul's character's 6000 and more year old friend is still alive(or at least we don't learn anything about him dying). And aucorse, there is that new scene in the end, where we learn that Faith is still alive.
To my opinion, this part is called ''Endgame'' because the Game ends for the original Highlander(played by Christopher Lambert-the main character of the movies)when he dies.
Anyway,if you like epic,cool,and aucorse martial arts,buy this movie.NOW!!!!!
Movie Review: Continues the Tradition Summary: 5 Stars
The fourth installment of the Highlander saga does a wonderful job of continuing what the first film began. Forget about numbers two and three, they strayed so far from the path that they should be films without the Highlander name attached to them. I cannot stress enough how horrible the second and third Highlander films are; I can't believe that Christopher Lambert would attach his name and talent to them. Highlander: Endgame joins Christopher Lambert with Adrian Paul, the Highlander from the films and the Highlander from the television series. The film revolves around an immortal that is more powerful than most of the immortals that Connor or Duncan have ever faced - and leads the two Highlanders to a tough decision. The fourth installment is a passing of the torch in a sense, moving from Connor to Duncan as the key player in the films. Some favorites from the television series pop up as well - the Watcher Joe Dawson and Methos, the oldest immortal. The DVD comes with two versions of the film as well as additional footage and a new ending. You'll have to form your own opinion on the DVD ending of the film, but I thought that it was appropriate. With the popularity of the Highlander franchise, I expect to see more Highlander films starring Adrian Paul.
Movie Review: "THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!" Summary: 5 Stars
Even though I have yet to see HIGHLANDER II: THE QUICKENING and HIGHLANDER: THE FINAL DIMENSION, this film is just as good as the original film. Jacob Kell is on par with The Kurgan as the best villians that Connor and Duncan Macleod have ever faced. The visual effects were done very good (compared to the series). The acting and choreography are done very well. If this film has any downfalls, there would be two of them:1) DUNCAN AND FAITH'S SEX SCENE. True, it has good editing between the scene in the past and the present, and the woman playing Faith is great looking. But I'd rather watch Kate Winslet's nude scene in TITANIC than look at Adrian Paul's naked rear end through half of that scene. And since I'm a Christian, I really shouldn't watch this scene much at all. 2) THE DEATH OF CONNER MACLEOD. This is the part of the movie that bothered me the most. Conner is my favorite HIGHLANDER character, and was THE ONE in the original film. It was sad tha he died, but it was more sad that Duncan was the one that killed him. Even though it was inevitable, it's still sad to think about. Other than these minor problems, HIGHLANDER: ENDGAME is a movie that all HIGHLANDER fans shouldn't be without. Grade: A+
