Movie Review: Tortured Bon Vivant Life of American ex-Pat in Paris
Summary: 5 Stars
Great great movie. Perfectly capture Miller's intense writer's personality, and his brief but tumultuous love triangle in Paris. Good glimpse of the "bohemian" lifestyle also. Excellent cinematography. Big fans of Miller's, or Nin's, writing will not be disappointed. Erotic, shocking and dramatic would be the three words to describe this film. Maria de Medeiros is perfect as the young writter and so was Fred Ward in the role of 'Henry', excellent chemistry between both the fine artists. Uma's appearence may have been brief but she does deliver a sattisfying performence, beautifull settings, locations of Paris. Definately worth a watch.Movie Review: Refusing to accept restrictions

Anais Nin wanted to experience life and write about it. She argued with her husband, who worked in a bank that the people he knew were not fully alive.
One could argue that her sexual experiences were immoral, but everyone must decide for him/herself which of society's restrictions to follow and which are meant to be ignored. Anais Nin chose to be free.
