Movie Review: Hellfighters
Summary: 5 Stars
Classic John Wayne. Very enjoyable film. Jim Hutton is great as well as Katharine Ross. Enjoyed being able to pick out the "regular or frequent players" in this film from Wayne's other films of this period. Wayne's common theme of using the same names throughout his films also comes into play. The action scenarios are taken from actual well fire experiences. In later years, I confirmed this with Red Adair, whom Wayne patterned the Chance Buchman character after. Red explained he had a great time as technical advisor on the film and remained a lifelong friend of Wayne's until his passing. Incidently, Red Adair's personal Rolex had a face very similar to "The Buchman Group" insignia on their vehicles.Movie Review: Amazing Movie!

Great movie! Everything you could want in a John Wayne movie!
This movie follows events in the life of 'wild well and blow-out specialest' Chance Buckman (John Wayne)and the rest of his team, charactures who are based on the real life wild well and blow-out specialest Paul 'Red' Adair, 'Boots' Hansen, and 'Coots' Mathews.
Exotic locations, fun fights, and the quick humor add to an exciting story. Action, love, and laughter what more can you want? Take one injured fireman, add his daughter who falls for another fireman, then a dash of nerves when things don't go right you can't go wrong. A deffnate must see.

I really like all of John Wayne's later movies. He is not a cowboy in this one but it is an excellent movie. He is a very different character but he does it well and it is a very exciting movie. He puts out huge oil fires and then one of his pardners marries his daughter and takes her with him to the fires. John's estranged wife doesn't like it but--- well you will have to see it, it's good.

i love this movie! wayne and jim hutton(tim hutton's father) make a good screen team as they fight oil well fires around the world,and each other the rest of the time.hutton marries wayne's daughter(the beautiful katherene ross) and they both try to get wayne and ex-wife vera milles. the action is great and the story has more than it's share of humor. kick back and enjoy this "hot" action movie.Movie Review: Great Movie from it's time

I loved this movie! John Wayne did a great job in his role, portraying Chance Buckman (who was modeled after the real life pioneer in oil well firefighting, Red Adair). It was very entertaining and educational in the dangers of fighting and extinguishing oil well fires. It's a must see for all John Wayne fans as this was right up John Wayne's alley for a non-western movie.
