Movie Review: Iron Men Of Metz
Summary: 5 Stars
This is a really good WWII movie and the reason I purchased it was my Father served 38 months in the Army during the war and was in the Ninety Fifth Infantry Division which was featured in the film. My Dad told me of many things that happened during his time in the service. The one part of the film which reminded me of one of his stories was when Calvados,the French Apple Brandy was mentioned.
He always told us about the time after landing on Normandy beach and advancing inland about a little older lady who was giving out one shot of Calvados to the soldiers that passed by her. They were very happy to see the United States soldiers who helped win back France's freedom from Nazi Germany.
Movie Review: STEVE McQUEEN gives a Killer Performance

Steve McQueen gives a gives a killer performance in HELL IS FOR HEROES. In fact Steve McQueen is just that, a killer whose prospects in civilian life are zero once the war comes to an end. McQueen's distant and brilliant performance as a heartless killing tool is misunderstood by all except the viewer. They only survive on the brutality that he metaphorically represents as seen through Don Siegel's reflective yet direct images. The finale is heartbreaking as McQueen earns his fleeting moment of pathos but will be remembered in the hearts of anyone who ever saw this film. What an incredible scene that was.
Movie Review: A war film ahead of its time.

Like Citizen Kane this movie plays more like a movie made yesterday that just happened to be in black and white.Cheesy musical scores, guns that never run out of bullets, and ...Germans are WWII movie elements this one leaves out. Like Saving Private Ryan, there is little music and very realistic fighting that detail the horrors of war.
Certainly dark, this movie consists almost soley of 5 characters on one set. But there's still plenty of action and suspense. Although no really large battle scene, we really feel for these characters and understand the dispare of their position.

this gritty little war movie has mcqueen at his best as a soldier who is burning out and placed with a new company just as they retake the line near the end of the war. out maned and gunned, this small group must hold the line at all cost.
just a great little movie with a fine supporting cast,and great action scenes. try it you'll like it

I agree with Brian. For a dvd with no extras the price is crazy. I did buy it though and can say that the quality of the dvd is very good. However, at this price i wish I had just stuck to my vhs copy.
