Movie Reviews of Heartbreak Ridge (Snap Case)Movie Review: MARIO'S MUSCLES DOMINATE! Summary: 4 Stars
Yeah I know Eastwood's always good but I rushed to get my handson this from Amazon.com to keep tabs on Mario Van Peebles's everchangin' 'muscular splendor.' Tho not lookin' nearly as good ashe does in SOLO, there's alot to like here. Peebles treats us toone 'shirtless scene' after another or so it seems. He's gotta be high on the list of BEST BLACK BODS gracin' stage & screentoday. Here we get him in ever-flexin' glory as one of a handfulof recruits doin' their best to wear Eastwood down with their non-conformity. You see he's the drill seargent. The movie is ajoy to watch anyway with its solid storyline & quite amusingdialogue. Must confess however that after watchin it once, Iactivated the zoom feature of my player & zeroed in on everygorgeous inch of Mr. Mario's torso. Doubt they come any better 'cut & chiseled' than this & to think he still wasn'tsatisfied with 'his look' & bulked up even more for laterroles. Why not TAKE A GANDER- it's not like Eastwood's absenthere tho I'm pretty sure he never removes his shirt to showoff his equally well-publicised physique!
Movie Review: Essence of Clint Eastwood Summary: 4 Stars
I grew up on Eastwood movies from his Cowboy era to Dirty Harry and beyond. I have to say this movie is as good in its way as any of the previous.
The story has been told many times over of a rough tough unconventional leader shaping up a rag tag misfit group into a cohesive force to be reckoned with. Many times using unconventional or vary conventional ways. Not only in the military field but also many other fields. So it is more the delivery than the story that one would want to watch this movie for.
Marine sergeant (Clint Eastwood) facing retirement and trying to cope with a failed marriage and ex wife is tasked with turning a rag tag bunch of individuals into marines. He is hampered by self-glorification self credit seeking people on all sides. If he fails many will die. So will he succeed and if so at what cost?

Movie Review: From Korea to Granada. Summary: 4 Stars
Last night I watched "Heartbreak Ridge," a Clint Eastwood saga in which Eastwood plays an ultra-tough marine non-commisioned officer who got his credentials at Heartbreak Hill in Korea, not at the Naval Academy in Annapolis. Late in his career he's called in to shape up a batch of new recruits. It's an interesting, if somewhat cliche-ridden movie. I'd suppose that ex-marines would enjoy looking back on all the stereotypes and get a good chuckle. Eastwood is as tough as he is in any of his movies, but there's relatively little fighting, mostly because Eastwood dispatches the bad guys in only a few blows. Add in a bit of romance with an ex-wife and a bit of the war in Granada. In any case, the movie presents a view into the inner life on a military base. I haven't been in the military, but I find it an interesting perspective. "Heartbreak Ridge" is an enjoyable action/adventure movie to watch, but I would not rank it among Eastwood's best.

Movie Review: Stereotyped, but enjoyable Summary: 4 Stars
This movie is so over-the-top it's very enjoyable. To me, anyway. I haven't been in the army (or the marines) and I'm fortunate enough to live in a country that hasn't been at war for decades. Therefore, from my neutral point of view, I have really had a great time watching this movie. Clint Eastwood's portrayal of Gunnery-Sergeant Highway is overdone, and therefore a treat to watch. Also, catch Everett McGill as Major Powers, absolutely unlikable in this part. Always thought he was a great actor! This movie has something in common with "Full Metal Jacket". Both movies start off on one foot and seem to end on another. The bad part about this is both movies start off better than they end. Don't get me wrong, I like this movie, I really do. But I always seem to loose interest in it after the training-part comes to finish, and end up switching the movie off after about an hour. And I suppose it's for good reasons.
Movie Review: Poor by Clint's high standards but Summary: 4 Stars
Along with The Rookie its probably the worst film Clint Eastwood ever directed. However I've given it 4 stars because it IS hugely entertaining and even though he was 56 when this was made Clint looks great in the role.
The film is too long at 125mins, but for the first hour and a half you will get to see and hear Clint deliver some classic lines. He spits and chews people out. I also think this is the first film where Clint used that gruff voice that has subsequently become a trademark, reaching its zenith in Gran Torino where simply growls at people!
The plot such that it is needs no explaining, there is a love story and its a classic re-working of films like Full Metal Jacket and the Dirty Dozen. Its not as good as those, although it is a little tongue in cheek where they are not, but it has Clint Eastwood in it, and that is reason enough to see it. A living legend.
