Movie Reviews of Heart Burn

Movie Review: Adorable!
Summary: 5 Stars

If you're a fan of Streep, you'll be charmed by this 80's movie. Meryl's performance is genuine and touching as she portrays a young wife and mother dealing with the breakdown of her marriage. The red-headed toddler in the movie is her real-life daughter Mamie, and the interactions between the two are beautiful, real and heartwarming. Added bonus is that two of the dinner guests at the party scene table are Meryl's mother and brother. Carly Simon's soundtracks add a richness to this film. Jack and Meryl eating pizza and singing all the songs they know about babies is priceless. Meryl's reaction to finding out her husband has been cheating is very real, and her vulnerability is palpable. I'm thrilled to have added this movie to my Meryl collection!

Movie Review: Good Inspiration
Summary: 5 Stars

I personally LOVE this movie so much because it became my inspiration to leave my first husband who was lying and cheating on me. Of course that led to my new life with my second husband who is almost always a saint. Considering I'm phsically disabled, plus have bipolar disorder. Other than putting on weight and not taking his meds or seeing the Dr. regularly, the only thing he could find to fight over is my spending habits online. So I thank this this movie for the courage to move on when I did, and may it do the same for someone else in a very bad marriage that cannot be saved.

Movie Review: Fairly brilliant
Summary: 5 Stars

Mike Nichols defied all odds by presenting two of the most unlikable lead characters (insecure whiner and philandering cad)in movie history and yet still created a wonderfully sharp and sad look at a doomed relationship. This is great stuff with strong turns by Streep and Nicholson and a screamingly funny Catherine O'Hara in a small role. Those early negative reviewers completely missed the point of this one. Alas, Ephron's biting touches here softened considerably with each of her successive films.

Movie Review: The Best
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a movie I can watch over and over and still get a great pleasure in seeing like new each time. The irony, the sarcasm, the joy, the anger or relationships is all there by two of the best actors in the business - Meryl Streep and Jack Nicholson. Truely a place we have all been at some time with a relationship, Ms. Ephron's book is carried out without apology as the characters go through all the phases of love and despair. And watch for the a very young Kevin Spacey as a punked-out robber.

Movie Review: Great Movie
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this movie even though I'd seen it so many times. I only buy the ones I truly love. I believe this is based on a true story. Meryl streep is superb as always and Jack Nicholson is equally good. The soundtrack is also good with songs by Carly Simon. It's a definite must see. It did not get the recognition it so deserved.
