Movie Reviews of Haunted (Full Screen)

Movie Review: Anyone for some kinky Goth?
Summary: 2 Stars

It's a love story, it's a ghost story, it's a mystery. But it's not your average love/ghost/mystery story by any means. May I also add that it is kinky? Did I see the Hallmark brand name at the beginning of this movie? I was a bit taken aback at the nudity and...kinkiness. It's almost like James Herbert wanted to write a kinky story but hid it underneath the premise of a "ghost" story. But anyway, I had this story figured out well before the ending, but the gorgeous scenery and atmosphere kept me interested nonetheless. Anthony Andrews, who is always good at playing the spoiled rich English aristocrat with a family secret, was very good, as was Kate Beckinsale. Anna Massey seemed to be acting in another movie, she was rather annoying. And Aidan Quinn was sufficient, but kind of wooden I thought. The story itself was a little confusing, involving the ghost of David's drowned little sister, among others. It wasn't the best ghost story I've ever seen, but the scenery and the beautiful old house made up for whatever else was a bit lackluster about this film. If you are in the mood for a gothic, moody, kinky ghost story, then this is the movie for you.

Movie Review: Not haunted enough
Summary: 2 Stars

Aidan Quinn, with his unearthly pale eyes and great handsomeness, would seem perfectly cast as a university professor exploring a case of a ghost haunting in a great English mansion; unfortunately, his harsh American voice seems wholly out of place in this period chiller. Though the movie is redeemed in part by its great wild ending (blunted in part by poor special effects), the director, Lewis Gilbert, seems to have little feel for the Gothic mode: the house itself isn't terribly scary (and doesn't even seem very large), and there's very little sense of atmosphere. All the nighttime scenes seem unusually well lit, for example. Perhaps to convey the decadent "Brideshead" atmosphere, Anthony Andrews is bizarrely miscast as Kate Beckinsale's brother, despite their twenty-five years' difference in age.

Movie Review: The Haunted
Summary: 2 Stars

The Haunted was visually appealing to say the least, unfortunately that was all I found to be appealing about this movie. I just thought the movie was very slow and predictable, the "twist ending" could be seen practically from the opening credits. But maybe I've just watched too much horror to be surprised anymore. The ghost story takes a backseat to the love story, so if that's your thing, you may really enjoy this, but from a horror fan's perspective, I found the whole thing to be very blah.

Movie Review: ughhh!!! shave them 'pits Kate. they be stinkin'!!!
Summary: 2 Stars

movie was fairly boring.Beckinsale is also pretty dumb. What kinda actress doesn't shave her armpits when she knows she has to do a nude scene.A total turnoff!!!

Movie Review: Must have missed something
Summary: 1 Stars

I watched this movie two days ago and I'm still annoyed with it. At first, right after the movie ended I thought "Well that wasn't awful". But the more I think about it, the more plot holes I find. I wont go into them because I hate spoliers in reviews but they were plentiful. As far as the rest of the moive, the acting wasn't bad, the special effect will not wow anyone, and Kate is at least partially nude for most of the movie. I would not recommend watching this movie unless perhaps you invent a drinking game to go along with it. Kate is topless - drink, weird look from nanny - drink, Aidan doesn't believe in ghosts - drink, odd family situation - drink etc.
