Movie Review: Burt Reynolds proves he still has it.
Summary: 5 Stars
Detective Logan McQueen (Burt Reynolds) and his partner Detective Charlie Duffy (Charles Durning) are on graffiti patrol. They have been up on the roof all night waiting for the painters. McQueen is now 62, but he is a good detective and still very active. He can still run after the bad guys. Charlie is aged, overweight and doesn't want to be on overnite patrol.
McQueen, through binoculars, spots some suspecious activity amoung latinos and a man with a briefcase. He pleads for Charlie to call back-up. Charlie complains as McQueen takes off, but when Charlie looks through the binoculars himself, he finally calls back-up.
McQueen manages to get two of the latinos, Catarato (Paco Christian Prieto) and Pepe (Danny Arroyo). He makes them go against the wall, however, it backfires and McQueen is put on the ground. They take his gun and handcuffs.
Meanwhile, Charlie is lagging behind.
After the latinos run, McQueen manages to get up and chases after them again. He finds Catarato with Pepe. He runs after Catarato again who makes a quick getaway.
We see that Pepe has been killed. We know it was not McQueen that shot him.
A case develops and they speculate McQueen shot Pepe. He was shot at less than 3 feet. He goes to jail and they set bail. Someone has posted bail for McQueen.
Now McQueen is on the trail of who killed Pepe and who is after him.
Also in the cast: Robert Loggia, Billy Dee Williams, Michael Buie, Mia Sara, Ja'net DuBois, Roddy Piper.
Directed by Burt Reynolds and originally aired a one of 3 tv-movies on the TNT cable Network.
I enjoyed this tv-movie when I first saw it broadcast in 1998 and now again on DVD. It is a good role for Burt Reynolds and we always like to see him as the hero.
It has renewed my interest in Burt Reynolds movies again.
If you are trying to place Ja'net DuBois, she was the neighbor in the "Good Times" tv series (1974-79). Good Times - The Complete First Season which was a spin-off of the hit tv series, Maude - The Complete First Season (1972-78).
