Movie Reviews of Halloweentown High

Movie Review: Good, not as good as the first two though
Summary: 4 Stars

I really liked this movie, it was a lot better than the 4th one, but the first two were better.

Movie Review: Not as Good as the First Two
Summary: 3 Stars

Halloweentown High is the third in the trilogy of Halloweentown films that began in 1998. All of the main characters from the first two years are back including Debbie Reynolds as Aggie Cromwell and Judith Hoag as the mom and reluctant witch. It's six years later and Marnie Piper(Kimberly Brown) is now pretty well grown up and now in high school and has become a very skilled witch. Marnie and her grandmother Aggie bring several young teens from Halloweentown to the mortal world and disguise them as everyday teens so they can attend school and learn about the mortal world. But a new villain is not happy about this plan and does everything he can to foul up the plan.

As with the first two films the affects are very good for a TV movie. Marnie really takes center stage in this movie at the expense of both Reynolds and Hoag. This hurts the film because the great thing about the first two was how the whole family was working together to battle the villain. Add to that a bit too much time is spent on Marnie's love interest and also that the Halloween "feel" isn't as strong as in the first two. It's not a bad film, but certainly not as good as the others.

Movie Review: The Weakest in the Series!!!
Summary: 3 Stars

This sequel is nowhere near as good as the first two. For starters, they don't even go to Halloweentown this time, and just doesn't have the spirit as the originals. Marnie is brought to the Halloweentown Witches' Council and asks to bring a group of Halloweentown students to her own high school in the mortal world. If she does not prove that mortals and Halloweentown creatures can co-exist, the Cromwells will lose their magic at midnight on Halloween. If you're a die-hard fan of the series, you might like HALLOWEENTOWN HIGH!!!

Movie Review: Not as magical as the first two.
Summary: 3 Stars

In this Halloweentown movie, Marnie is off to High School. It seems like the timeline is off a little (shouldn't Marnie be older than a freshman in High School?). The movie doesn't have any major scenes in Halloweentown, which is kind of wierd. The whole point of the series is Halloweentown! This installment did have a good plot, but was somewhat lacking the original Halloweentown magic.

Movie Review: HALLOWEENTOWN HIGH (2004)
Summary: 3 Stars

I was always a fan of the HALLOWEENTOWN movies, I loved the first two when I was little but the thrid effort fails. It was a limp film that did not capture the magic of the original or even the sequel. You will most likely de dissapointed by it but its nice to see the triolgy getting a DVD release.
