Movie Reviews of Halloween IIMovie Review: Almost enjoyable if not as good as the 1st 9/10 Summary: 5 Stars
After Halloween's success a lot of slashers were made to cash in on the craze of that era so the producers begged John Carpenter to make a sequel he wrote Halloween II while drinking a 6 pack he said h**l I'll make Michael & Laurie bro & sis. Donald Plesance came back as Dr. Loomis Jamie Lee Curtis returned as Laurie Strode we are also introduced Jimmy played by Lance Guest Dick Warlock plays Michael Myers. Ok the plot is straight forward it's the same night Halloween of 1978 Michael is on the loose Laurie is in The Hospital Loomis & Sheriff Brackett are looking for Michael. Brackett isn't in it for long cause they find his daughters body you do find out that Michael & Laurie are brother & sister I would've loved to seen the reaction it got back in 81. I've heard that this movie runs at a slow pace I feel it runs at a fast pace you want slow paced watch H2 2009 that's trying to be a Greek Tragedy it's a tragedy to watch. I liked Loomis, Laurie even though she doesn't have a lot to do Jimmy aka Jamie's father & if I have characters I like the longest of movies go by quickly. The last 10-15 minutes own Michael Myers is burnt to death! Then Halloween III came out everybody hated it cause Michael Myers wasn't in it but I thought it was alright then Michael was brought back for 4. I also have a version with the TV scenes mixed in the theatrical version where you find out Jimmy is still alive. I'm hoping 1 day this gets a special edition. This can be watched with the 1st as a double feature you get The Night He Came Home & the Night He Stays for more. But it's hard to pick a favorite between 1&.2.
Movie Review: Better then the first! Summary: 5 Stars
I wasn't too interested about the first Halloween. As a matter of fact, I found it pretty boring but this was an improvement. Why? Well for starters, let me state the fact that the annoying Halloween theme didn't come up every 2 minutes in the movie like the first one. Plus in this movie you get a little more understanding of Halloween that it isn't about a knife welding psychopath stalking babysitters. Anyway here is the plot. We go right where we left when the survivor Laurie Strode is saved by the maniac's doctor, Sam Loomis by shooting Micheal and Micheal falling off a balcony then seconds later seeing he is gone. Laurie is taken to a hospital, where she mainly is thrughout the whole movie. Loomis on the other hand going around Haddenfield looking for Micheal. What nobody knows is that Micheal is in the hospital looking for Laurie plus anybody who gets in his way. Although Micheal had been shot 6 or 7 times and fell two stories down, he is doing just fine. I had said that in this movie you get a little more understanding of halloween and you do. While Loomis is looking for Micheal, he learns that Micheal and Laurie are siblings (brother and sister). That is why Micheal is won't stop at nothing to get Laurie killed- because she is his sister. The first one didn't say anything about and I was so confused about why he was stalking Laurie when I first saw the the original Halloween. Well over all, I would definetly reccomend this over the first Halloween.DVD Features: Wide Screen version Production notes Theatrical Trailor Cast and crew information
Movie Review: REVIEW: HALLOWEEN 2 Summary: 5 Stars
REVIEW: HALLOWEEN 2 "Jamie Lee Curtis returns as Laurie Strode but spends most of her time cowering in a hospital gown, and Donald Pleasence runs around like a maniac as the panicky doctor desperate to hunt down Meyers before he kills again."BREAKDOWN CHARACTER: **** - Laurie and Dr. Loomis are in it, but with decreased roles. All the others were cardboard, but they were drawn well enough so that it isn't distracting. ASTHETICS: ***** (This includes acting, music, and setting... just stuff that delights the ear and eyes.) - The setting and mood was excellent. John Carpenter should be extremely proud of his little piano notes. They keep you attentive. The originality is great, and I have a special fondness for the EXTRA-hot hot tub. The skin-falling makeup was well done, as was other makeup - and the fire. FAST FORWARD: ***** - A star is lost (of 5) for each time I find myself fast forwarding in boredom. INSTINCTIVE: **** (This is the rating I'd give right at the end given what my overall impression of the movie is.) - I find that this is equal to the first HALLOWEEN, but it does miss something. I loved it, and it was a superbly dome sequel, but you can't help but feel it was different. OVERALL: ***** (4.50) (rounded) RECOMMENDED: Yes. There is gore, and it has a certain point.
Movie Review: My Favorite Horror Film! Summary: 5 Stars
I ran out to buy univesal release of this dvd and the picture quality is great and the sounds also and now for the film! Halloween 2 jumps off right where the last one left off soon Jamie Lee Curtis is taken to the Hospital for evaluation and care and this is why halloween 2 is the perfect Horror film! Granted Michael Myers is the true star but here he takes a back seat to the Hosital! I like most people hjave a deathly fear of hospitals, maybe it's the smell of lysol or the fact that some check in but don't check out or the fact that even in the next room someone is dying and John Carpenter makes this the ultimate hospitalof horror! it's stark and empty the floors have a low grade sheen and the walls are a strange muted color and even the baby's ward is void of noise! When Myers makes hi sway into the hospital he turns into the Grim Reaper of mercy killing people with the precision of a ginsu! When he finally meets up with curtis his impsoing stature and slow creeping body overwhelm her and the viwer when a relentless Pleasence comes to her aid and they have the ultimate grude battle and Myers is wounded in th head by a bullet and blinded the swipes Myers takes at his sister (Curtis) with the blade slashing through the air with such a clear cut that sound alone makes this film worth the price. So sit back and watch out for two things on your next visit to the hospital; Myers and a missing scapel!
Movie Review: Better than the origional!. Summary: 5 Stars
I really enjoyed this sequel and was very impressed by it as it managed to top the origional - a rareity for sequels! Although not made until 1981 (three years after the first Halloween) the movie carries on directly from the ending of the first one, the opening scene of this movie being the last 4 or 5 minutes of the first.
Micheal Myers is still after Lorrie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis), this time going on a killing spree in the hospital where she has been sent because of her injuries from her encounters with Michael earlier that night.
I liked this movie even more than the first, it is scarier and gorier and has a higher body count as Michael slices and dices his way through the hospital staff (strangely there were no other patients in the hospital) to get to Lorrie.
Unlike the deaths in the first movie, some of the kills in Halloween 2 are quite gory. I liked that some of the deaths are quite creative, as opposed to every character being stabbed. Also, a clever idea was that Lorrie has a bad reaction to the medication she is given which causes her to muscles to episodically being weak/paralysed which adds a lot to the suspence during chase scenes as we root for her to escape.
I would deffinatly recomend this movie to fans of the first in the series or of the horror/slasher genre in general.
