Movie Reviews of Gunga DinMovie Review: Gunga Din Outstanding! Summary: 5 Stars
This review is for the movie not the DVD. This is an outstanding movie with great performances by Cary Grant, Victor McLaughlin and Sam Jaffe as Gunga Din. It's the story of a Indian serving as a stable hand with the British Army in India who dreams about becoming a bugler with the Army. Plenty of action sequences and humor. Very well written and some of the best acting for movies of this genre. The bad guys are truly evil and the good guys always get their revenge. A true classic!
Movie Review: The greatest Adventure movie ever. Summary: 5 Stars
It starts off almost comically - three in good-natured british sargents brawling with a highland regiment over a fraudulent map - the action is highly stylized and meant to be campy fun...but as the movie progresses, it becomes increasingly serious.
The final scene, battle scene, though i have seen it over 50 times, is still fresh and exciting.
performances by Cary Grant, Douglas Fairbanks Jr. and Sam Jaffee are top notch.
Movie Review: ANOTHER GREAT MOVIE FROM 1939 Summary: 5 Stars
ONCE AGAIN A GREAT MOVIE FROM 1939. A YEAR THAT GAVE US THIS MOVIE AS WELL AS THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME,OF MICE AND MEN, THE WIZARD OF OZ AND OF COURSE GONE WITH THE WIND AMOUNG MANY OTHERS.
THIS MOVIE, ALTHOUGH SOMEWHAT POLITICALLY INCORRECT TODAY IS NONE THE LESS ONE THE GREAT ADVENTURE MOVIES OF ALL TIME.
A MUST SEE AND MUST HAVE FOR THE SERIOUS COLLECTOR.
Movie Review: India Adventure Summary: 5 Stars
This should be required viewing to graduate from middle school, high school, and college/university, for all majors--all graduates--NO EXCEPTION! It should be shown in Sunday school, and to all congregations, whatever their genesis or ilk!!! It should be shown at the Lions, Rotary, Mason's, Elk's, Moose's, Shriners', any and all organizations of whatever sort in these United States!!!
Movie Review: Unsurpassed as an adventure Summary: 5 Stars
I note one unfavorable review--reporting that Gunga Din is grossly politically incorrect--and forty reviews that claim that the movie is one of the best ever made. Leonard Maltin calls it "THE Hollywood adventure-action yarn." Go with the forty and Maltin. I am old enough to have seen Gunga Din in its original release and it has remained my absolute favorite adventure film ever since.
