Movie Reviews of Grease 2

Movie Review: Fans of Michelle Pfeiffer -- DON'T MISS IT!!!
Summary: 4 Stars

OK, so Travolta and Newton-John were giant icons of 78 (and after), granted. Grease was, is and ever shall be, an accepted classic. Putting that aside, Grease 2 which sadly has the intrinsic "sequel" written in the title, has no feeling whatsoever like its predecessor. BUT IT IS STILL FUN! It is great fun, and the songs are extremely enjoyable their own right. What a pleasure to see Pfeiffer in her first "big" starring debut, and she really can sing, even though her voice is "electronicized" a lot (for proof, see "The Fabulous Baker Boys"). (She was gorgeous back then and still is, a REAL star).
This is a perfect sit back and have fun movie with the kids, on a rainy day with some popcorn. Just appreciate the fun music and gorgeous people in the film.

Movie Review: Addictive
Summary: 4 Stars

OK, so the movie is full of cornball stereotypes- gorgeous nerdy foreign dude, gorgeous aloof leader of girly clique, self-absorbed gorgeous leader of pseudo-tough motorcycle gang, and the King of Nerds (What would an 80's movie be without the King of Nerds himself- Eddie Deezen!). But so what? The plot is actually pretty decent. The songs are fun to sing along with, thankfully Michelle Pfeiffer and Adrian Zmed's singing talents make up for Maxwell Caulfield's lack of same ("Charades" is skip-worthy). It's fun, campy, almost tongue-in-cheek. And of course, at the end, Stephanie realizes that one CAN be a cool rider, and a Shakespeare buff at the same time.

Movie Review: 100% Guilty Pleasure!!
Summary: 4 Stars

I've loved Grease 2 since I first saw it back in 1982. Ok yes it's not the greatest movie in the world and it was never as popular as the original Grease, but I can't help but enjoy watching it every single time. First of all, the songs are much catchier! "Cool Rider" is so awesome and 10 times better than any song you can find on the original Grease soundtrack. The chemistry between Maxwell Caulfield and Michelle Phieffer is awesome. Stephanie Zanoni is the COOLEST pink lady ever! It may be immature and sex filled, but the flick is all in good fun and I am so glad it's finally making it to DVD and widescreen. I give it two thumbs up :)

Movie Review: Does okay on it's own
Summary: 4 Stars

I realize that this movie is certainly no "Grease" and comparisons to it fall short, but as a standalone movie it isn't half bad. As a child of the 80's I fell in love with this movie, emulating Michelle Pfeiffer by doing the "Cool Rider" routine at home.

"Grease 2" is a guilty pleasure movie for me. I watch and laugh at home with "Reproduction" and "Who's that guy" and sigh at the end when we learn Shakespeare and Cool Rider are one and the same. If you don't know the songs I write of, I encourage you to pick it up one evening or rainy sunday. You might find it's a guilty pleasure of your own.

Movie Review: I've always thought this movie was simply campy fun...
Summary: 4 Stars

I first saw this when it came out on videotape. I must have been 11 years old. I absolutely adored it and watched it over and over again, singing the songs at the top of my lungs. It's not a great movie; it's not even a particularly good one, perhaps. However, it cheered this young girl up after my family had gone through a particularly nasty divorce and I'll never forget it for that. It's on TV today, and more than 20 years later, I'm singing it again...and smiling.
