Movie Reviews of Gorillas in the Mist

Movie Review: A Gorilla Was Inducted Into the Royal Society....
Summary: 5 Stars

Ah, well, you mayn't know Kafka, but you don't need to know him to know this film. Or Diane Fossey, the impressive gorilla researcher who was mysteriously machete'd to death for her efforts. This film cleanly, beautifully chronicles Fossey's work, starting with her chasing after Dr. Louis Leakey and ending with her tragic, unsolved murder decades later. The gorillas are beautiful, whether puppet, real or animatronic. The scenery is lavish, and the acting is intense, thought-provoking. All I can say is I was a bit resentful that Diane Fossey's lesbianism was passed over in favor of her love affair with...what's-a-name, that hunky male photog from National Geographic, will Follywood's wonders never cease.

Movie Review: BRAVO!!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I highly recommend this movie to anyone who has never seen it. I did find the poaching scenes very disturbing and difficult to watch but that may be because I am a passionate animal lover and activist. They are however vital to bringing an understanding to the poor gorilla's plight. Who would ever want a gorilla hand ashtray anyway....GROSS! It also broke my heart when Sigourney Weaver had to give up the orphaned gorilla she nursed back to health to the zoo broker only to find out she died a year later. If it weren't for Dian Fossey efforts, gorillas might very well be extinct by now. My praise goes out to her, as well as Ms. Weaver for the splendid job she did in portraying her.

Movie Review: Sigourney WeAver
Summary: 5 Stars

captures the heart of a woman (Diane Fossey..)who many people claim was nicer to animals than peoplE.Sigourney probably worked with the same Gorillas in the movie that DiAne Fossey did.My anThropology teacher claims that Weaver had Fossey down pat: Her loOk and voice.I'm never tired of looking at Sigourney on screen:She's just a force and a serious actor at heart: Her comedies are not without serious statement too. This is a movie where she's taking some risks.Sci-Fi or comedy, seriOus roles--Shes really quite got it all.A role modEl.A gay icon and stRaight mother..Nothing fazez this woman does it?

Movie Review: Gorillas in the Mist
Summary: 5 Stars

Set in the 1970s, Michael Apted's reverential biopic about the life and murder of primatologist and animal-rights activist Dian Fossey is compelling for one reason only: Sigourney Weaver's Oscar-nominated, force-of-nature performance. Fearsome in her dealings with people, Fossey couldn't be gentler or more nurturing with her beloved gorillas, and Weaver is compelling in portraying these contrasting moods. Bryan Brown offers able support as Fossey's lover, photographer Bob Campbell.

Movie Review: By far Michael Apted's masterpiece!
Summary: 5 Stars

Above the incandescent and vivid performance of Sigourney Weaver, the primatologist, whose overwhelming devotion to the once nearly extinct mountain gorillas of Central Africa led to her eventual murder. The storytelling is ravishing and let the viewer with the absolute conviction she crossed the border line around the investigation and the self experience in many issues.
A magnificent and disturbing movie, hard to forget in years.
A winner film!
