Movie Reviews of Goosebumps: The 2007 Phillies Video Yearbook

Movie Review: A must Have
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a must have for any Phillies fan. It is great to watch and relive the last game of the season. The run that the team made while losing Ryan Howards for 2+ weeks, Utley for a month, Gordon, Myers, Hamels, Madson, Leiber and Garcia for different amounts of time is just incredible.

Movie Review: A bonus for a memorable season
Summary: 5 Stars

Goosebumps (named after the team's rather lame '07 marketing campaign) takes us through the 2007 Philadelphia Phillies season. By now, it is well-known that the Phils made a miraculous run to the NL East title in '07, coming back to win the division after trailing the New York Mets by seven games with only 17 left to play.

After a brief introduction by Harry Kalas, 2007 National League MVP Jimmy Rollins handles the narrating duties. Rollins starts off by revisiting his own infamous "team to beat" proclamation, then guides us through the season, from spring training (which included the passing of former longtime coach John Vukovich) to the memorable conclusion of the regular season. In addition to game footage, there are the usual side stories included.

As a highlight video, Goosebumps is pretty much run-of-the-mill, though it is a definite must for Phillies fans who wish to have another look at the thrilling final days of the 2007 regular season. What makes Goosebumps worth the price, however, is the bonus material. These features include a tribute to John Vukovich, "Harry Won't You Tell Me" (written and perfomed by Skip Denenberg), and Richie Ashburn's son visiting his father's hometown of Tilden, Nebraska (2007 marked the tenth anniversary of Ashburn's passing). There are also many deleted scenes, a significant portion of which were shot following the division-clinching game.

Speaking of the division-clincher, that game in its entirety (and 45 minutes of postgame celebration) is included on a bonus disc.

The 2007 season saw the Philadelphia Phillies reach the playoffs for the first time in 14 years. For Phillies fans, this DVD set is a perfect way to commemorate that occasion.
