Movie Reviews of Goodbye, Mr. Chips

Movie Review: Just as I remembered it!
Summary: 5 Stars

I first saw this movie in college. I memorized my favorite songs over the years and when I was notified that it had come out on DVD,I just had to have it. The picture/color quality is fabulous. It brings back so many memories. I cried just like I cried at the sad parts forty years ago. The price was great, too. If you like Peter O'Toole and Petula Clark and musicals, this is for you!

Movie Review: Wonderful
Summary: 5 Stars

That this is not available in DVD is incomprehensible. Who still has a VHS??? The last time I saw this I cryed, grown up man that I am and was ,next to my date at a retro movie house. "A" performances by all, music is a embellishment to the story, not a distraction. and makes you wish Petulia Clark made more movies, sad I can't see it again till they make the DVD....

Movie Review: Goodbye, Mr Chips
Summary: 5 Stars

Having been stationed in England I could see this happening. Also Peter O'Toole and Petula Clark did an outstanding job with their characters. This is a movie that a person enjoys or doesn't as it invokes memories and attitudes that might be uncomfortable. The "less" than great movies (for the most part) of today leave a lot to be desired. Outstanding movie.

This is a wonderful movie! Why isn't it on DVD?(I've had the VHS tape forever!) The scene when Peter O'Toole learns of his wife's death and returns to his classroom gets me everytime. Plus, I have the soundtrack on a casssette tape--why isn't the soundtrack on CD? I can't find the 1969 version ANTWHERE! Hope it finally gets done. Thanks.

Movie Review: Goodbye, Mr. Chips with Peter O'Toole
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a most wonderful, musical remake of the original 1939 film. Peter O'Toole and Petula Clark are superb and give most touching performances. Why is this movie not available on DVD? So many inferior films on DVD from this period and other eras are available and I can't help wonder how such a beautiful film as this be overlooked?
