Movie Reviews of Good Morning, Vietnam (Special Edition)Movie Review: Frenetic Williams Summary: 5 StarsI really like GOOD MORNING, VIETNAM. Robin Williams as Adrian Cronauer is just terrific. His performance is both extremely funny and unsettlingly moving. J.T. Walsh as Sergeant Major Dickerson is outstanding as Williams' adversary. GOOD MORNING, VIETNAM contained one of composer Alex North's last scores, which was quite effective in the film's dramatic latter segment. Williams' frenetic pace is at times non-stop. Thus film grows more interesting with each viewing catching a little piece here or there that you didn't notice the time before.
Movie Review: Put that man on the radio Summary: 4 StarsIn my opinion this is R. Williams at his best it has variety and laughter. It has him teaching the vietnamese english as a second language- williams style. It has him doing improvisational monologues so well on the radio that he makes it difficult to tell he's following a script or not. It's laugh-outloud funny. It's a thinking person's comedy and a laughing man's drama.
Movie Review: All good things rolled-up into one movie Summary: 5 StarsA tear jerker, a laugh, and very realistic interpretation. Very, Very wonderful.
Movie Review: 5 star comedy, 3 star drama, 1 star dvd Summary: 3 StarsThis is one of the funniest film ever. It is on the AFI's top 100 comedies, and Siskel and Ebert gave it two thumbs up. The comedy is halarious, and I didn't agree at all with the review saying that "One star is too many. This movie was a vehicle for Williams' stand up routine, and nothing more. No acting, just Robin Williams schtick." I thought that this was a funnier military comedy than M*A*S*H, but not as great overall. I like it as much as I like Dr. Strangelove, but Duck Soup is better. I saw somebody reccomending "Full Metal Jacket" instead of Good Mornign Vietnam. Now, I like both of those, but the two are not to be compared. Good Morning Vietnam is very good at comedy but mediocre at drama. Full Metal Jacket is mediocre at comedy but very good at drama. All in All, FMJ may be a little better, but I don't see why there being compared. Robing Williams is just comedically brillant. As for the ddvd, the 5.1 sounded analogish, and had little separation. The picture was okay, no impovement over the LD, but a difference over TV and tape. Feel free to leave me a helpful/not helpful feedback. Thank you for taking the time to read this and God Bless America!
Movie Review: Funny but still tells the real story Summary: 5 StarsExcellent movie - still break into hysterical laughter after I've watched it several times. However, has a serious side, and even if it's not totally accurate, at least gives a glimspe into what the Vietnam war really entailed.
