Movie Reviews of Godzilla Vs. Megaguirus: The G Annihilation Strategy

Movie Review: A very fine Godzilla movie and a considerable improvement over "2000"
Summary: 4 Stars

The 'Millenium' series, the third Godzilla film series, began in 1999 with "Godzilla 2000: Millenium". It was followed by this film - "Godzilla vs. Megaguirus". The premise involves a seemingly crazy idea: launch a black hole on to Godzilla, absorbing and containing him so he can't stomp on Japan anymore. The idea turns out to be not so crazy after all, and so a test firing is done. Unfortunately, while the test seems successful, it creates a wormhole, mutating a dragonfly and creating a horde of vicious, large dragonflies.

"Godzilla 2000", while fun, was not a spectacular movie. "Megaguirus" is a considerable improvement. Although it has its share of hokey moments (not the least of which is Godzilla leaping four-hundred feet into the air), it features an interesting storyline and a good script, not to mention a terrific score (by Michiru Oshima). The highlight of the film is the opening sequence, in which the story of the original 1954 Godzilla film is re-created using the new suit.

While "Godzilla vs. Megaguirus" can't compare to some later entries in the 'Millennium' series - namely "Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah" - it's a fine Godzilla movie that should please fans. Be sure to stick around after the credits ...

Movie Review: Who wrote the Amazon review...Steven Spielberg?
Summary: 4 Stars

What can you say about this film the amazon Editorial Review does'n't already say ...well EVERYTHING! This is by far one of the superior G flicks of these times. The whole film comes across as science fiction gone crazy, the idea that any country would entertain the concept of using a weapon that can blast matter into another dimension - on such a beast as Godzilla is just how desperate the Japanese government has become...and of 'course the results are devastating. It's fantastical movies like this that keep us Gfans coming back and screaming for more. The mix of traditional rubber suited monsters and CGI is done well here, all with that incredible Japanese sense of style and twisted beauty. As usual the flick is a mecha of model work and bizare creatures all intent on killing each other... and the only good by-product is Japan gets trashed!
The special effects are fabulous - not bad, catch the movie and enjoy the ride...OK.

Movie Review: 4 1/2 stars
Summary: 4 Stars

Okay you Godzilla haters. This is a great movie so get the gum out of your ears and listen. This movie has got everything! I repeat, EVERYTHING! The monsters look terrific! And unlike the Godzilla movies that are crap, the plot flows nicely. Okay, so mabye the effects aren`t always great but who really cares? Bad effects make this movie good for a change. My favorite part is when Godzilla jumps into the air and body slams Megaguirus who has his stinger stuck in the ground. Then they fall into the remains of a building. The only thing that prevents this movie from 5 stars is that the ending is very upsetting. The new man-made black hole gun swallows Godzilla. But I think that deep down inside that I and the movie characters reliezed that Godzilla either escaped or avoided the black hole. I think this movie was very well done. Too bad the ending could have been done a bit better...

Movie Review: Great Movie...Hopefully a Great DVD
Summary: 4 Stars

Not to long ago.when I was flipping through the channels on my Direct TV,I noticed 2 new Godzilla Movies Coming on.I Hurried up,and grabbed a blank tape. The 2 movies were GMK and Godzilla v.s Megaguirus.I anticipated the big battles of the movies.Unlike the others,The Movies got right to the battles. The Fight Scenes were awesome...especially in GMK.Both Movies had great Plots and terrific endings.I am the biggest G-fan that ever lived.I love all of Godzilla's Movies...but these two were the most awesome I have ever seen. The reason I gave it 4 stars is on the count of I havent seen the DVD.The special features may not be that great, but as for the movie, even someone that hates Godzilla will love these 2 movies...and guess what...they are coming out on DVD at the same time...AWESOME!!!

Movie Review: Great story-bad special effects!
Summary: 4 Stars

One of the latest in the G series has some connections to past mostly around Godzilla attacks. It has a great story lots of ideas and fun characters BUT the effects wildly range from good to AWFUL! What happened!? If you compare the effects in this movie to G Vs. Meccha G the effects in that movie blow this one out of the water. There are wires on Magagurius!? Its 2004 people! EVEN THE 1964 FILMS had better effects than that. And Godzilla himself.. he's lifeless and dull. His face and movements are terrible.. no no. If you are going to spend all this money and time do it right!!!! But for story and characters and the odd good effects and there are a few I gave this movie probably more stars than it deserves.
