Movie Reviews of Godzilla Vs. Megaguirus: The G Annihilation Strategy

Movie Review: One of the Best Modern Zillas!!
Summary: 5 Stars

"Godzilla vs. Megaguirus" is not only one of the best films of the Godzilla "Millenium" era...but one of the best films in the entire series! Even casual fans of the giant lizard should enjoy this entry!

The basic story is that Japan has created a special unit to deal with the Godzilla threat, the G Graspers. They are working on a new weapon which will create a miniature black hole that will trap Godzilla forever, unfortunately when they test it a wormhole is created which allows a giant dragonfly through just long enough to lay an egg. Of course the egg manages to hatch releasing hundreds of these aggressive dragonflies into Japan.

"Godzilla vs. Megaguirus" features some of the best special effects of the entire series. the Meganulon (the first stage of the dragonfly things) are downright creepy! Part cockroach, part scorpion and part dragonfly...they are an insect-phobes worst nightmare. Godzilla looks amazing as well, and the miniatures have never looked better. The music is awesome composed by Godzilla newcomer Michiru Oshima who also scores the later entry "Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla".

This is a great entry in the series, and one well worth picking up if you are a collector...and one well worth viewing if simply a fan.

Movie Review: Great DVD-It's Only Competition is GMK
Summary: 5 Stars

Finally, a legal region 1 Godzilla dvd release with the original Japanese soundtrack (the same applies to "Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack"). This has been a long time coming: two Godzilla releases with Japanese language soundtrack, improved special effects, and new story lines. This film is a far cry from campy Godzilla films past. The only way to improve on these movies, would have been to include true subtitles rather than "dubtitles". This means that the subtitles are based on the English language dubbing instead of the true Japanese language translation. The dubbing, however, is improved over previous releases, where it more correlates to mouth motion of the actors than in G-films of the past. True subtitles would still be preferable for those of us who enjoy the true Japanese language version. In spite of this, Sony-TriStar deserves three cheers for their first attempts at dual-language track Godzilla dvds. Let's hope to see true subtitles for "Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla" on March 23rd. Other than that, this is pure entertainment for any Godzilla or scifi fan. A double delight to have these two releases on the same day. If you like Godzilla, this is a "must-see". -Michael Ditkowsky

Movie Review: Megaguirus Is One Of The Best Characters Ever!
Summary: 5 Stars

Despite the American version of Godzilla vs. Megaguirus having the strings on Megaguirus show at her introduction, the movie really is special.

There are so many moments that are just classic on this film that I never can get out of my head. One of the coolest parts is when the lead actress rides of Godzilla's back as she puts a tag on him. But like I said, there are many great moments but my absolute favorite scene is when the swarm of Meganula attack Godzilla at the beach. The best part is when you get to see all of the Meganula flying around the city. The DT Black Hole machine was awesome as well.

Oh, what can I say about the music! Some of the best music I have ever heard in a Godzilla film, it only adds to the moments on screen. Nothing can compare to when the soldiers first see all of the Meganula attached to the building and start flying away. The music in that seen is eerie and perfect for that moment.

Overall, a great movie and I highly recommend this fun film

Movie Review: The BEST Godzilla movie I' ever seen! May 30, 2004
Summary: 5 Stars

Hmmm, how should I descibe this movie awesome, fantastic, horrible [had you there didn't I.] Godzilla had an awesome theme and so did Megaguirus [did I spell that right?] Megaguirus has some cool attacks but the only official one is by putting her stinger in Godzilla [OOOOUCH!!] and sucking his energy. Now for the summary. Five years after Godzilla attacked Osaka [for that good old plasma energy!],Japanese scientists have developed a new weapon[DIMENSION TIDE.] During testing an egg gets in the way and develops into a Meganula, then the meganula give their energy ALL their energy to the Meganula queen,Megaguirus[a giant dragonfly?I know it's embarassing] and needs to steal Godzilla's energy to survive. Can Godzilla defeat the evil Megaguirus, or will Megaguirus be crowned as new King[I mean Queen] of the?
