Movie Reviews of Godzilla - Tokyo S.O.S.Movie Review: Another Strong Outing in the Godzilla Series Summary: 5 Stars
This is the fifth Godzilla movie from the Millennium Series (begun with Godzilla 2000) and the first direct sequel from the series. In that regard, it would help greatly if you saw Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla and are familiar with it as Tokyo S.O.S. assumes you already know the groundwork. If you liked Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla, chances are you are going to like this one as well. Picking up directly where its predecessor left off, the battle ensues again, this time with three versions of Mothra in the mix... the moth and two newborn caterpillars! The flashbacks to the orginal Mothra movie are a lot of fun too. Overall, the action and special effects, as is always the case with the modern Godzillas, are quite good. The story, while somewhat slim, does have some interesting twists too.
From what I understand, the next movie will be called Final Wars and will feature 10 monsters! Promos for this movie (that opens in Japan in December of 2004) claim this one is "the end." Of course, such was supposedly the case with Godzilla vs. Destoroyah from the Hesei Series, so after a hiatus of a number of years, Godzilla will probably be back again. Until then, a high-budget Destroy All Monsters for the new millennium will certainly be something to look forward to.
Movie Review: Wow great Godzilla movie, see it now!!! Summary: 5 Stars
No other words to say except this is another visually striking epic series in the Godzilla franchise by Toei.
The movie delivers it all, good realistic sets, great special effects, no more is Godzilla just a puppet figure worn by some Japanese man, no now using the latest CGI effects and technology, Godzilla is a lifelike, strong, realistic and superbaly powerful being.
The plot for this movie might turn of some, Godzilla is the villian and he battles Mothra and Mechagodzilla (whose primarily been a bad monster) over Tokyo.
Actually Godzilla for the bulk of the movies kicks their butts, and gives one great moment after another.
The moment in the movie where Mechagodzilla tries to outsmart , Godzilla for example by hiding behind a building blows up in his face, when Godzilla shoots an electric blast destroying the building and penetrating Mechagodzilla.
Wow!!!
One note: One critic said its playing in US shore, not true, the movie has not really seen a large release in the US, as is the case with foreign movies, the US primarily ignores
them , a shame considering this sci fi epic is pretty cool.
Check out the movie.
Movie Review: Godzilla Roarrrrs Again Summary: 5 Stars
Huuuuuh when i saw the first movie with my dad when i was a little child godzilla amaze me for the rest of my life, the myth of the giant monsters and all the things that change the fiction movies or horror movies, i love the monster and all the history behind him, mechagodzilla ( aka kyryu ) is great! also mothra the giant bee appears too in this film, the new image of godzilla was taken from godzilla 2000, is sooo cool! the movie in general have lots of action since the last encounter with godzilla and kyryu both almost destroyed a great part of tokyo in the last fight and now is payback time! Godzilla is wounded of the last encounter and mechagodzilla is very damaged of one arm and the lost of the main weapon the absolut zero! then mothra appears to save the people of tokyo but which kind of price the villagers of tokyo need to pay to survive another encounter? we don't now!!! until you watch this great movie!
Movie Review: Love this film! Summary: 5 Stars
I can't wait for the DVD, but this movie is great! Sure the human interaction wasn't great, but still, the fights, the music, and even the SFX worked! That's enough to make it a five star rating!
The fights were pretty amazing! Even the final battle
The SFX were WAY better than GMK. Mothra never looked realistic!
The musice was awesome. Kudos to Oshima for the wonderful score!
Even the ending, while sad, was beautiful.
So I DEFINATELY recommend this to any Godzilla fans. Most will find it wonderful, while some will find it pointless.
Me? Well, this is definately five stars! If your looking for a Godzilla movie that has great SFX, this is the one!
Congrats to Tezuka for directing this wonderful film. And again, I can't wait to pick this up, as it will feature a REAL bonus feature!
Movie Review: Renewed my Faith! Summary: 5 Stars
This is what gave me hope for the Godzilla franchise now ... i saw previews and stuff for Final Wars which i assume is probably better, but in this to no real fan is let down. Now, people, it is a Godzilla movie ... so it's not a huge budget or super CGI blockbuster, but just a movie true fans of the series love. I don't hate any Godzilla movie, being a fan i enjoy then all. My favorite will forever be Godzilla vs. Destoroyah but this has better effects, but so what, i just think Godzilla is bad a$$. But just like the heisei series, Godzilla looks powerful, Mothra looks poetic and beautiful (as they both should) and Mecha-G never looked better. Please take my advice, watch the Heisei series, in my opinion it's the best but this is a great G Movie!
Long live the King!
