Movie Reviews of Go Tell the Spartans

Movie Review: Go Tell The Spartans
Summary: 5 Stars

This movie is simply the best Vietnam war movie made. Period. In a realistic fashion, this movie emphasizes the very frustrating circumstances that faced American servicemen, and the French a decade earlier, who fought in this confusing war. It takes place in the early years of the war when US servicemen served under MAGV as opposed to MACV. (In 1965 MAGV became MACV and US servicemen became more than just advisors.) If you're tired of those other cheesy Vietnam War movies, you have to check this one out.

Movie Review: I was there
Summary: 5 Stars

I served 3 combat tours in South Vietnam. the first was in 1962-1963 under MAAG (Military Assistance Advisory Group). I have seen this movie and have placed an order for a copy on DVD. A lot of what is shown was true on what you had to do to get along and get the job done. It is a super movie and a depiction of life in South Vietnam during the early years.

Movie Review: Go Tell the Spartans
Summary: 5 Stars

Excellent movie that accurately portrayed the early stages of American participation in Vietnam as advisors and limited combatants. Shows the ridiculous nature of trying to use computers to predict the movements of an unpredictable enemy (which WAS actually employed by officers!) and the officers lack of understanding what was obvious to the enlisted men.

Movie Review: one of the best war movies ever made
Summary: 5 Stars

the great burt lancaster gives one of his best proformances in this underrated war film about the early days of vietnam. no big special effects just in your face horror and stupidey of war and how we never really knew what we were doing there. belongs beside platoon as a look at the war from the view of the soldier.

Movie Review: A great movie that could have been a classic .
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a well acted movie with a good story line . Burt Lancaster does a great job . My favorite part is Lancaster telling the story of how he fell from grace as a generals aid and ended up in Vietnam .As others have stated the production does have a "made for TV feel" to it which is a shame .
