Movie Reviews of Go (Special Edition)Movie Review: One of my favorites Summary: 5 Stars
This movie should be a classic with endless rotation on Comedy Central. It's definitely worth having on DVD. I just watched it for the 6th time, and I can't wait to see it again. It puts me in such a great mood.
Don't let the "Katie Holmes" sub-headline fool you into thinking this is a teen movie. There are great performances by Jay Mohr, William Fichtner (the FBI agent from Prison Break), Desmond Askew (hilarious British guy) and Breckin Meyer (The main character in Road Trip).
The overall theme of this movie is a drug deal. However, because of the interesting way the three stories are weaved together, it makes it stand out from the bunch of other movies about drugs. Did I mention that it's also hilarious? Too many favorite scenes to count...
Movie Review: THE BEST OF THE PULP FICTION WANNABES. Summary: 5 Stars
DOUG LIMAN'S FOLLOW UP TO HIS CRITICAL SUCCESS "SWINGERS" IS AN EXCITING RIDE THAT NEVER (AND I MEAN NEVER) LETS UP. MY FAVORITE THING IS THE BEGINNING. WE SEE THE COLUMBIA LOGO SUDDENLY, WITHOUT WARNING, FLASH AWAY TO SOME COOL TECHNO MUSIC PLAYED OVER SHOTS OF A RAVE. FROM THIS IMMEDIATE START, YOU KNOW YOU'VE HIT A MOVIE JACKPOT. THE ACTORS ARE GREAT AND THE WRITING IS VERY CRISP. OUT OF THE THREE STORYLINES, "SIMON" AND "ADAM AND ZACK" ARE THE STANDOUTS. NOT TO SAY THE "RONNA" STORYLINE ISN'T GOOD, (THEY'RE ALL GOOD), BUT THE OTHER TWO HAVE A BIZARRE ECLECTIC MIX TO THEM THAT TAKES YOU SOMEWHERE YOU'VE NEVER BEEN BEFORE. THE EXTRAS ON THE DISC ARE FANTASTIC AND THIS IS A "MUST BUY".
Movie Review: More from the Tarantino-Train Summary: 5 Stars
Doug Liman did a WONDERFUL job of this movie. Although finding his way to step in the footsteps of my personal favorite director, Quentin Tarantino, he did it in his own unique way, focusing well on three different lifestyles of modern America. Maybe I'm overpraising to you, but I mean every word of it. Every single performance is an entertaining one. From Simon (Desmond Askew)the British grocery clerk who goes to Vegas for the weekend, to Ronna(Sarah Polley) and her friends Claire(Katie Holmes) and Manny (Nathan Bexton) and other great performances by actors like J.E Freeman, Taye Diggs, and an especially entertaining performance by Breckin Myers, this movie is definately one for the ages. I own it, and suggest you all give it a shot.
Movie Review: I love this movie Summary: 5 Stars
Go is one of the best movies that I saw in 1999 and is one of my all-time favorites. The plot is like Pulp Fiction in that all three of the stories told intertwine to form a hell of a movie. One of the stories revolves around ecstasy deal one around a trip to Las Vegas and the last revolves around two gay soap opera stars. Full of action and laughs, Go keeps you interested for the entire length of the movie(only 103 minutes). There is some nudity and drug abuse so I wouldn't recommend this movie for those who are easily offended. But for people who like dark comedies and action and for those who love to laugh I would definitely recommend Go, which I recommended to all of my friends and would not quit talking about it until they saw it.
Movie Review: Generation X meets Pulp Fiction - squared Summary: 5 Stars
If you are a Baby Boomer trying to get a handle on Generation X, this just may give a teeny tiny handle on the project. Take the movie "Dazed and Confused" and move it forward 28 years, throw in several handfulls of jaded cynicism, substitute Techno-Ambient for Classic Rock and a rave for a kegger. Add the road trip from hell and a surreal sting operation and you've got the bare skelleton of "GO". Flesh it all out with crystal realism, great screenwriting and crackling acting. This movie may not be for everyone, but if you liked "Pulp Fiction" there is a very high likelihood you will lap this right up. Hugely entertaining. The movie rewards repeated viewings.
