Movie Reviews of Girls Girls Girls (1962)Movie Review: GREAT LIGHT HEARTED ENTERTAINMENT Summary: 5 Stars
Elvis Presley movies may not be in the same class as "Gone With The Wind " or "Sound Of Music" but they should be looked at as easy light fun with great music and the charasmatic appeal of Elvis .I think some people take themselves way too seriously and cant see these movies for what they are. Pure fun.We will probably never know the real reason why Elvis never tried to tackle a more dramatic role ,as some know it was one of his ambitions. But in the end it doesnt really matter ,does it?. We have what we have and should be happy with the legacy Elvis left behind. Elvis Presley brought joy to billions of people , and still does today. If you dont like Elvis or his music and movies ,then listen or watch something that you do like.
Movie Review: The King will never die Summary: 5 Stars
As were many of Elvis's formula films, this was just good natured fun. Can you imagine anyone else playing these roles? OF course not. But this is testament to something other than Presleys talent, namely his charisma. He was the most successful movie star of all time. Every one of his 30 movies made money. No movie star has equaled or come close to that.He is far and by a wide margin the single best selling recording artist of all time with sales of over a billion records. No single performer comes close. His records today still outsell most of the top acts of today. There must be a reason for this. Those who would denigrate Presley just cannot get over these facts. Like it or not there has never been anyone like him nor will there ever be.
Movie Review: Elvis Was Another Olivier! Another Caruso! Summary: 5 Stars
Oh, what an actor! A true thespian in the esteemed tradition of Olivier, Scofield, Laughton, Donat, and Gielgud! Elvis was an actor of intense realism, uncanny emotionality, impeccable announciation, and masterful gesticulation! "Girls, Girls, Girls!" ranks right up there with Olivier's "Wuthering Heights," Scofield's "A Man For All Seasons," and Donat's "Goodbye Mr. Chips" as one of the all-time great films! And to think he had a better voice than Caruso! My, my this man Elvis was the greatest actor-singer whoever lived! Yes, it's true! Now, will somebody please hand me my Lithium and strap me into my straightjacket? Bye, bye! I'm off to see Elvis in person at Happydale Sanitarium! Bye, bye!
Movie Review: ELVIS PROMOTES MULTI-CUTURALISM Summary: 5 Stars
I like the way Elvis presents Mamma and Poppa Stavros and his Chinese friends as part of the American mosaic. But honestly, for some reason, I always thought this film was in Florida, not Hawaii as everyone else says. Maybe it was because I thought Mamma and Papa were Greek, like the Greeks in 'Beneath the Twelve Mile Reef' which was in Tarpon Springs, but the song 'We'll Be Together' that he sings at their party has a Spanish verse. I also like 'Earth Boy' which he sings with the Chinese children. As for the romantic ballads, I especially liked 'Where Do You Come From' but although it's part of the album, it isn't in the film.
Movie Review: Good-hearted and fun movie Summary: 5 Stars
Never would have imagined that a good-hearted and fun movie like Girls, Girls, Girls! could generate such simple-minded and near-sighted nonsense as we had here. We are considering here a movie made more than 40 (forty) years ago, and we are still talking about it today. We are even still watching it today and let's face it, guys, like it or not, but some people even still seem to enjoy doing so. Funny isn't it? And that for a `marginal talent' who has been dead for more than 25 years!? Wanna bet that nobody will ever talk about you again as soon as this page has been deleted? Recommended.
