Movie Reviews of Getting ThereMovie Review: Mildly entertaining but very irresponsible Summary: 2 Stars
This movie, which is about travel, shows just about every irresponsible thing a young person can do. First, the girls get into a car and none of them ever wear seatbelts. Especially with being in a convertible, they would be dead in any collision under those circumstances. Later in the movie, one of the girls accepts a ride with a stranger -- another extremely dangerous decision. I understand that when people watch movies they like to be taken away into a fantasy. But it would not have altered the story to have the girls put on seat belts, or to have a former neighbor show up coincidentally to give the girls a ride. I also do not agree with the decision throughout the movie to refrain from calling the parents in times of trouble. Sixteen and seventeen year old kids are not equipped to handle these kinds of problems, and it is irresponsible to portray that as a goal, especially considering the audience that Mary Kate and Ashley typically attract. I have purchased just about every movie that Mary Kate and Ashley have made, and my whole family normally enjoyes them. I have never been as disappointed as I was when I saw this one -- unlike the others, this one will not remain in my family's movie library.
Movie Review: Give me a break... Summary: 2 Stars
I've seen most of the Mary-Kate and Ashley movies because they are usually quite amusing. I can't believe how unrealistic their movies are. They are always little rich girls with perfect clothes who go on very expensive vacations and meet two hot guys. Life just doesn't happen like that. Everyone thinks that these two girls are "such wonderful role models" just because they don't do drugs and have sex. Ok, so they are goodie-goodies... big deal. They are teaching little girls that you should always look like you just walked out of Express. I think it is pathetic... there is much more to life then beach vacations and cute boys. (oh and I forgot shopping) I really wish they would actually make a quality movie with a decent plot for once. This new movie of theres is no exception. I mean, come on... who actually gets a brand new ford mustang convertible they day that they turn 16? And worse... they go on a road trip immediately after they get your license? Right. No parents would let loose two very unexperienced drivers on a road trip with friend and guys. (without wearing their seatbuckles!!!) Like my review title says... give me a break.
Movie Review: I didn't expect much and didn't get much Summary: 2 Stars
Mix two cute boys+ super expensive too-mature-for-them clothes+ super trendy names i.e. Chloe, Riley, Madison, or Alix+ parents who seem to be millinaires+ some exotic location that most of us will never be able to go to= a Mary-Kate and Ashley movie. That unfortunatly seems to be the sad combination that some strange people who are making these idiotic movies seem to believe makes a good movie. I mean WHO IN THE WORLD gets a hot fire engine red model mustang on their 16th birthday RIGHT AFTER they get their license AND gets to go on a road trip with boys and no shaperones? Their parents certainly seem to think thats ok. MY parents definetly don't have the money to put me and five friends up in a beautiful lodge in Utah. The whole movie is about how the twins and their friends plus these three supposedly "cute" boys are trying to get to Utah. After the car is stolen no one seems to care that much and they just throw around money on airplane tickets like it's nothing. The only surprise in this movie is that both girls DO NOT end up with boyfriends! If you must see this movie I suggest renting it or have someone loan it to you...
Movie Review: I'm really disappointed Summary: 2 Stars
I've loved the Olsen twins since they were on Full house. I never really LOVED any of their movies, but I have to say that I really liked "It Takes Two." Recently their movies have been kind of repetitive- they go to a foreign country and meet two boys. I thought this movie was going to be better, but it wasn't. The whole movie really is about "getting there" and it was the most boring movie I think they've ever made. The boys were surfers, and were portrayed as these mindless idiots. There was a very weak plot, and very little action. It was really stupid how every attempt they made to get to Utah failed. The other thing I didn't like was how once again, mary-Kate and Ashley were living in a fantasy world. They had money to go on planes, buses, cars and other various ways of transportation to get to Utah. Oh, and no chaperones either. Overall, I was really disappointed.
Movie Review: Not Mary-Kate and Ashley's Best Movie Summary: 2 Stars
Getting There, a movie with Mary-Kate and Ashley was probably one of their worst movies they have ever made. This movie is an endless cycle of getting lost in the middle of nowhere constantly, with only a small portion being dedicated to Salt Lake City and the Olympics. The acting by most characters was not as good as normal, (Mary-Kate and Ashley were still great!) The one part of the movie that I really did like was when MK+A were at the Olympics and their friend breaks her leg, one of the twins hooks up with a really hot skiier and at the end of the movie when all of them go sledding. There were some great parts in this movie, but I was overall disappointed.
