Movie Review: THE CHANCE TO SEE 'THE GREATEST GROUP IN MUSIC HISTORY'.
Summary: 5 Stars
I was flabbergasted to finally have the opportunity to acquire this collection.I, as well as millions of other Temp fans have waited for decades to be able to take advantage of it.The videos are absolutely breathtaking, as anyone who has had the good fortune of seeing the Temptations can attest to.I would like to give a special thanks to Reelin In The Years Productions & Rob Bowman for their work in putting out such a quality product that even the most jaded Temp fan would have to agree is the best tribute that I have seen to the Greatest Vocal Group of all Time.As a child of the 60's I didn't have a chance to see the group live until after David & Eddie had left, so I didn't think of the original Temps as much as the group's current lineup of the moment. But as I grew older and had the opportunity to see the reunion videos & get the classic albums on CD,I thought to myself "How could there be a more talented 5 man singing group than the original Temptations?" The answer of course, IS THAT THERE IS NOT ONE!!! I have watched all of their T.V specials, including their Ed Sullivan show performances, and I have seen them in concert about 6 times, so it's not hard to come to the conclusion that with the possible exception of the early Jackson Five, and maybe New Edition, that there is NO five man singing group, or for that matter NO GROUP PERIOD that can come close to combining the sweet harmonies, spectacular and innovative(decades ahead of their time) coreography, and stage presence that defined the original Temptations. To be able to watch them sing 'AINT TOO PROUD TO BEG, I KNOW I'M LOSING YOU, & I WISH IT WOULD RAIN before I go to work everyday is a blessing in itself. On top of that Add the fact that you have A capella versions of all of these songs at the click of your remote to me has got to be the greatest bargain that a music lover can get.I join the rest of the Temptation fans of the world in saying "TEMPTATIONS FOREVER".
Mr.Bowman, Mr.Galloway, and Mr.Peck are to be commended especially for their references to the classic Temps lineups as "Motowns Greatest Vocal Group", "Americas Greatest Vocal Group",and as "Stage Performers Without Peer". A sentiment which, after watching this DVD for the 1000th time,can still stir emotion in even the most jaded music fan,as Well as being THE ABSOLUTE TRUTH.
