Movie Reviews of G3 - Live in Denver

Movie Review: Remember these are three distinct styles
Summary: 5 Stars

I have read a lot of bashing on Yngwie here and of course everyone is entitled to their opinion. I find it funny that some self professed guitarists review this G3 album and talk about his redundancy and ho hum style of play. Yngwie is Yngwie and he is worthy of playing with Satriani and Vai or they wouldn't have asked him to play with them. For the guitarists that review this and slam Yngwie, when are we going to see your name next to Satriani and Vai.

With that being said, yes Yngwie is somewhat of a throwback but I think it really adds to the diversity of this show. I am very happy I bought this and would recommend to anyone. Some good stage antics but definitely some great playing. I am now going to get the other two DVD's with great anticipation. I have Petrucci on Jazz CD's and have not heard Eric Johnson.....at least I don't think I have.

I would really love to see some other guitarists in the lineup in the future..Robert Fripp, Ritchie Blackmore (if he still plays), Stanley Clarke on bass (I don't know if he is still around) and possibly Al Dimeola if he still plays. If none of these guys are available then there are definitely many many talented players I would like to see interract with Vai and Satriani.

this dvd is must have for all their fans.
the cd recorded one day after the dvd and has some great songs that you cant find in the dvd (and you cant find few songs in the cd , so i bought both).

you dont have to choose or compare between thefirst g3 live performance with eric johnson to live in denver with malmsteen . joe satriani - please continue where you stopped and bring us more dvd's like those you brought to us . i welcomed them , they are definetly ***** stars!!!! for your fans ( malmsteen, vai or joe satriani's fan around the world).

Movie Review: Satch performance makes every single penny worth spending
Summary: 5 Stars

Joe satriani is the true guitar god. Every single note he hits has meaning, expression and life in it. All the way throug the concert he gives total satisfaction and amazed audience by intrducing impressive technique e.g double hand tapping, artificial harmonics, making guitar scream and 'I DO MEAN'SCREAM' he even blend pick scrapping noise along with music so beautifully. My heart simply melted with love for his musical artistry when he playd 'STARRY NIGHT' and Satch boogie and extremist just blows you right away, to be able to play with such incredible speed and (most importantly)maintaining melody along the way, he is definately 'THE EXTREMIST'.

Then comes Vai whith his triple neck guitar, excellent performance. he never failed to bring surprise for audience. if u watch this dvd then u'll know what i mean. 'I know u're here' is such a wonderful song,it simpy touch my heart right away as he stand and sings.

Finally is a Ynwie Malmsteen, and to be honest i didn't quite get his music. I can hear blazing speed but not really a melody and soul in a piece of music. well, in the end is's just what i think. Having said, if u like blazing speed he's the man.

Movie Review: I was there
Summary: 5 Stars

OK, so I haven't actually seen the DVD yet, but I was at that show. First off, The Fillmore is one of my favorite venues - I've been to five shows there. I saw Jonny Lang, G3 '01, POD, and the SeeSpotRock tour. It's great for the up-in-front people, and the sit-back-with-a-drink people. Anyway, Malmsteen is such an upstager! I couldn't find anything of substance in his music. Pretty much, he was just showing off how fast he can play. He even had a poster at the merch table that read: "Ygwie Malmsteen - Guitar Legend" Which, by the way, is totally pompous. As for Steve and Joe, they were awesome. When Vai first came on with that three neck guitar (one of which is a 12 string), my jaw hit the floor. I thought I had been to the best concert in my life when I saw them in '01, but this was truly amazing. I did, however, like John Petrucci better - his drummer was phenominal! I was a little dissapointed that Stu Hamm didn't tour with them last year, he's one of my favorite musicians. For anyone looking to purchase this DVD, I can't really suggest it, since I havn't seen it, but the show was amazing.

Movie Review: A Great Guitar work
Summary: 5 Stars

i'm a big fan of satriani, vai,& mlamsteen, and i'm very excited to see them play in one show , each one has a unique style ,and this dvd is worthy for anyone who want real guitar music,i think most of the reviewers attack yngwie 'cause they didnt understand his playin' , more that 90% of yngwie solos are classical ,actually he plays like PAGANINI(a classical violinist),even when yngwie plays very fast that doesnt mean that he emphasize on speed.
i think satriani, vai,& malmsteen are the greatest guitarist now and dont waste your time in thinkin , go buy it now
