Movie Reviews of Funny Farm

Movie Review: A funny film!
Summary: 5 Stars

In 1988,Warner Bros. distributed this hilarious comedy starring Chevy Chase as Andy Farmer,a freelance novelist. Madolyn Smith is Andy's wife who also writes. The Farmers move to a new home in the country, uncovering a few unpleasant surprises such as an unofficially interred corpse. The corpse is taken into police custody and moved to a cemetery. For the Farmers' wedding anniversary, the wife gets Andy a dog,but it immediately runs away. Then they get another dog that doesn't run away. Andy named it "Yellow Dog" because of the dog's fur color. The Farmers' marriage ends up on the rocks. What started that was Andy's wife immensely disliking Andy's not-yet-finished novel. Angry Andy throws it into the couple's burning fireplace(I hope you're happy,Mrs. Critic!"). She wanted it destroyed,I think. With plans for divorce in progress, the Farmers' house is on the real estate market. By Christmas, the Farmers have reconciled their differences, called off their divorce and the sale of their home. The film ends with the Farmers at a baseball game. This film was one of the many Chase has made since leaving NBC's "Saturday Night Live" in 1976. SNL was what drove Chase to superstardom. Smith's previous film credits include URBAN COWBOY and ALL OF ME. She later co-starred with Joe Pesci in 1991's THE SUPER.

Movie Review: Classic Chevy
Summary: 5 Stars

I like all of Chevy Chase's movies but this one is classic. How goofy and funny can he be? He tries so hard to write a book and may be trying too hard. His wife, on the other hand, just gets her inspiration from a stuffed squirrel she found in an antique shop. Men normally don't like their wives making more money than they do, or succeeding when they have failed and Chevy is no exception. I love the Christmas scenes and laughed all the way through when the townspeople tried to do better than the other to get the bonus. I'm glad in the end that Chevy and his wife stayed together. I think the town will be the better for that. Hilarious. Reminds me of National Lampoon's Chrismtas Vacation.

Movie Review: Chevy Chase couldn't be funnier!
Summary: 5 Stars

I first watched this movie about 7 years ago on TV and never got to catch the title of this movie. And then again, I got to watch parts of the movie here and there on tv and I finally found out the name of the movie. I was so relieved that I had to buy it. I love the comical way Andy Farmer tries hard to adjust to the country life style when he was so used to city life & I also love it when most of the town people are gathered in his living room singing Christmas carols and Andy sings "Joy!..." but is abruptly interrupted by someone in the crowd giving a quick ovation and can't finish the song. Hahaha! He was so ready to go on with that song "Joy to the world..." L.o.l.

Movie Review: Best of Chevy Chase (He thinks so too)
Summary: 5 Stars

In classic slap stick form, Chevy Chase and the wonderful Madeline Smith deliver a winner. Often overlooked, this movie is actually a a full orchestrated, beauitfully filmed piece, with some classic humor. I have often heard Mr. Chase say that this is his favorite movie that he has done. I agree. If you don't get it, no problem, you just are not a fan a sophisticated, high level, slap stick.

I mean come on, "cue the deer", "lamb fries", "he hooked him in the neck", it's really funny!

We can hope that these two (Chase and Smith) will be together again.

Enjoy this classic.

Movie Review: one of chevy's best proformances
Summary: 5 Stars

Chevy runs the gambit of proformance emotions, from betrayed husband with the eating of the apple to the over zellouse parmedic in the fishing sene to the appoligetic spouse when he relizes Red Bud is where he Belongs and Elizebeth, although coming into her own is where she is suppose to be as well. Not to mention the local towns folk portraid by top noch actors and actoress as, I think everyone kind of wants to live in a town like Rose Bud.
