Movie Review: True to life military film which is why it's my favorite Kubrick film

Full Metal Jacket is one of the best films , Stanley Kubrick ever made. The film has humor, gut wrenching war scenes and brilliant acting. Matthew Modine is great as Joker, but it's Vincet D'Onforio and R.Lee Emery as Pyle and the Drill Sgt. The chemistry between these two actors is of David and Goliath calbiar. This is my favorite war movie of all time. It feels more like a documentary than a movie. Their depiction of boot camp is as brutal I expect it was 20 years ago. The war scenes are so realistic you will be ducking to dodge the bullets. This entire movie is interesting not a bad part in it. Full Metal Jacket is an outstanding portait of soldiers before and during the VietNam War. The first half of the film is so great that it seems to overshadow the rest of the film. But I feel the second half is just as compelling. Kubrick's direction reflects early films such as Paths of Glory and 2001: A Space Odyssey. Like all of Kubrick's films, there are images that you will see that seem to linger in your mind long after the film is over.Movie Review: Full Metal Jacket

This movie is one of the saddest movies about the Vietnam war ever. I think what impacted me most was the choice of music for several of the scenes. I don't like the "blood and guts" movies, but this one made a statement and the music was so very sad and in a minor key and it made the movie a visual and auditory event.Movie Review: Perfect War Movie

I've read reviews of Full Metal Jacket that complain about it consisting of disconnected vignettes and it makes me wonder what people think goes on in a combat zone. If you don't like Full Metal Jacket, you may not be interested in the truth. I can't imagine what else you would say in a movie about Vietnam after this.
