Movie Reviews of Full Metal Jacket

Movie Review: Its worth five stars but not as good as Hambuger Hill
Summary: 5 Stars

This is the sec. best film about the Veitnam War. Hambuher Hill was better in that it was more realistic and how men surrive when put into adverse conditions. But this film also shows real basic tranning on paris island as it was in the sixties, alot of what happened in the film at boot camp did happen except the shooting incident. Some did have nervous breakdowns and droped out. But i felt that the combat scenes didn't do the movie justace they could have alaborated and show how their tranning helped or failed them. But great movie and is up their and better than private ryan.

Movie Review: One of the best war movies ever, easily
Summary: 5 Stars

Full Metal Jacket is my favorite war movie. It is grittily realistic, has great acting and direction, and is quite well-done overall. Everyone in it is great - R. Lee Emrey is legendary as the drill sergeant at boot camp.

The film is divided into two parts. The first takes place in boot camp where marines are trained to fight in Vietnam. The second half is actually in Vietnam. While some parts of the second half are underwhelming compared to the first half, it really is just as good. It has many themes in it, and is very realistic. Full Metal Jacket is awesome.

Movie Review: True Grit!
Summary: 5 Stars

The first half of the movie which takes place at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island S.C. is by far the best depiction of Marine boot camp in the 60's and 70's. It will bring back a flood of memories for those who were there. D.I. Hartmen who was once the "real thing" does justice to a very difficult role. Part two which finds main character Joker in "the 'Nam" is gritty and meaningful. The human side of having to actually take another life is a far cry from the old John Wayne type movies. In short, buy it,watch it, again and again.

Movie Review: CLOSE AS YOU WILL GET TO THE REAL THING
Summary: 5 Stars

Comming from a US MARINES view who has been throught the 3 months of hell, I would say of all the movies I have seen this is the closest you will ever get to seeing what it is like to be a Marine. Unless, you join and go through the actual bootcamp! Gysgt Hartman is a great actor, and knows his part, I guess after all, he was a actuall Marine Drill Instructor!!! If you are thinking about joining the Marines or you want to see what we had to do to earn the title Marine. Then, watch this film. It is a great classic movie.

Movie Review: The fat kid goes crazy
Summary: 5 Stars

This movie takes one of the most brutal aspects of the army and makes it even more brutal. This story starts off with a fat kid that's trying to make it through combat training. The problems he has(mostly because he's fat and not all there) and his resolution to the matter(full metal jacket). Near the middle of the movie, the forward plot direction does a 90 degree turn. From here we follow a reporter in the war. All in all, a fantastic movie with some very disturbing scenes.
