Movie Reviews of From Dusk Till Dawn (Dimension Collector's Series)

Movie Review: selma hayek worth checking out
Summary: 4 Stars

this movie is alright on a whole. really violent and one of the better vampire flicks. the scene with selma hayek doing the dance in the club is worth the price of the flick alone. any guys that would pay top dollar to have selma's pretty toes inserted in their mouths dripping with alcohol please click that this review was helpful. quentin is a lucky man in that scene.

Movie Review: A brilliant combination of 2 totally different genres.
Summary: 4 Stars

This is another highlight for Quentin Tarrantino. He is amazing writer and you he really shows it here.

The script is very unique combining, what seems like 2 different movies, compiled into one. It starts out with these two brothers (George Clooney and Quentin Tarrantino) as runaway robbers who take Harvey Keitel's family hostage on their trailer and go to a bar in Mexico. Now, that's the first half of the movie. In that you get a great sense of tension. With Clooney's incredible acting as a raw thug, he makes you feel uneasy and nervous as he waves his gun around in a cool manner threatening the lives of these innocent people.

But then the film takes a total 360 degree u-turn and when they get to the bar, it turns out the employees are vampires and it becomes a slasher flick. Now, the thought of that may turn Tarrantino fans off, but the two movies are combined so well that you still find yourself into the movie just as much as before the plot turn then during it.

I think Tarrantino fans will be quite surprised by how good this film actually is. He really steps out of his normal crime territory and delivers something new and unique.

Nods to Harvey Keitel's acting as he plays the whole thing calm and cool even though him and his family's lives are threatened. But George Clooney really shines the most as he plays a character in which you've never seen him before.

Fans of tense crime thrillers and slasher/horror flicks should be very impressed with the stunning combination of both genres creating an original thriller unlike none other.

Movie Review: May be violent but it's oh so fun
Summary: 5 Stars

In one of my favorite films Aliens, besides one scene involving a chestburster, it's literally gore free. That is until the end when a certain artificial person gets a messy end(doesn't die but might as well be). So what happens is that one moment of gore seems more amplified because the rest of the film was completely free of it. So it is too with this film, it starts out with some violence but nothing too over the top and then boom, gore galore.

Seth and Richard Gecko are wanted by many a government officer and need to get into Mexico, only Mexico's border crossing has more cops than before. So they kidnap a small family and break through and end up where they need to: a seedy biker bar named the T***y Twister. A thing goes awry and the bar's workers shows their real faces: vampires. So begins a fight to survive the night.

The 2 distinct styles of Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino are shown in a nice hybrid. Robert's penchant for fast editing mixes with Quentin's long takes and Quentin's usual snappy dialogue. It's funny that many people considered Quentin an influential director injecting a new type of film and dialogue into film, despite getting ideas from other films. The guys named after colors in Reservoir Dogs was from a different film, the many references in Kill Bill. So it's nice to see something that isn't so obviously familiar to film geeks.

The extras are definately great. You get a long documentary on the making of the movie, a featurette, deleted scenes such as more gory moments(and you thought the human being as a guitar was bad) and Robert doing commentary on his film school like features. Also it contains Robert and the very first and to date only commentary(I believe) with Quentin Tarantino and its neat seeing their differences: Robert, composed calm and descriptive while Quentin is his usual hyperkinetic self.

So may not like the obvious split from the Pulp Fiction/Reservoir Dogs like opening to the big Kill Bill 1 ending last half but it's what makes that second half all the more cool and this movie is cool.

Movie Review: concept was a decent idea, just didn't seam together well
Summary: 1 Stars

I watched this movie knowing a bit about it. Two guys end up going to a bar with vampires, thats about all I knew. The first half of this movie really pulled me in. It was cool and the acting was smooth and funny at times. The first half of the plot was simple enough to keep me watching. But then, outta nowhere vampires show up at the bar their at. Why? There is no explanation until the very end, we're just supposed to sit here and think, "Oh hey, vampires...interesting." There are no "rumors of vampires" or urban legands that they hear, nothing, it just happens. And everyone seems to be not shocked. They're just like "Uh oh, better start killing them." Are you kidding, if i saw a vampire i'd sh*t my pants. It was an interesting mix of that action/horror had it only been tied together a little better. If the one genre bled onto the other one then i probably would have enjoyed this movie better. However, its just as seperated as Part 1 and Part 2, you can almost see the split in film as it turns from action to horror. It had alot of premise, but just couldn't hold it together in the end

Movie Review: Great double sided movie
Summary: 4 Stars

From Dusk Till Dawn was an entertaining movie. It starts off as a simple movie with two brothers trying to get into Mexico to escape feds and meeting a family by chance. Within an hour, it turns into this all out bloodfest with vampires and bats becoming more of a fantasy movie. It was a good movie one that doesn't put you to sleep yet one that doesn't mesmorize you either.
