Movie Review: I LOVE the GOOSE!
Summary: 5 Stars
Samantha is my favorite character! She must have a pretty good reputation for a goose. She thinks very lowly of little Jess! That goose should have a stars reputation! She should have her own star in Hollywood, and comfortable chair. I'm sure that her trailer is huge! This movie is highly entertaining. And the age of the movie increases my love for it!P.S.- I give four stars to the GOOSE and one star to Little Jess, the obvious main characters!

Excellent movie. It show the conflict over fighting to protect your property versus your religion and how a a strong man handled the conflict. Quite a bit of humor spices up an already good movie. Gary Cooper is at his best, Anthony Perkins show how good of an actor he is, and Dorothy McGuire shows how a preacher and mother deals with the same issues of religion and life. Watch the duck and the boy--hilarious.Movie Review: Just a great family movie!

This film has it's funny moments and its serious side. It is a portrayal of how the Quakers were different than their neighboring Methodists, and also how each man wrestles with the decision of going off to war. It is also a testimony in living what you believe in. The real "Friendly Persuasion" takes place when Josh Birdwell turns the tables on a Reb, who had the drop on him. This is a wonderful old classic with superb acting from two Hollywood greats, Gary Cooper and Dorothy McGuire - not to mention an unforgettable goose named Samantha. It was humorous, thoughtfully written, especially on the subject of the war, and it gives viewers a wonderful look at Quaker farm life in the 1860s. I would highly recommend it, and it's a good movie for families.Movie Review: One of the best

My Mother and I used to watch this film everytime it came on TV. We both loved its simple message very much. Now that my Mother has passed on I watch this movie with great fondness. Gary Cooper did a wonderful job in this movie. Dorothy McGuire was incredible as the mother and head of her congregation. Of course Samantha the goose stole the movie.
