Movie Reviews of Freaks

Movie Review: Gabba Gabba Hey!
Summary: 5 Stars

I recommend all movie watchers to buy this movie! its a great movie! the actors playing "freaks" in this movie have given it its reputation as being disturbing, but the idea behind this movie in the first place is how "freaks" are just like any other people and you can't just hurt them and get away with it. You can't find another movie like this! Its one of kind and very well made and really sends a message across! Even if you're not a fan of black and white, check it out anyway, the color hardly affects the impact of this movie on you.

Movie Review: To Laugh or Not To Laugh...
Summary: 5 Stars

I can't believe most people haven't seen this great film! Circus midget Hans is a normal guy inside (which includes falling in love with a woman out of his league). The "normal" trapeze lady & the strong man are not normal on the inside(they don't mind poisoning Hans to get his money). Hans' friends, a chorus of actual circus freaks, come to his rescue. They are immortalized by great photography in this film (a la Diane Arbus). Best thing of all: double edged (even sick)humor in the film lets us know that these poor folks can laugh at themselves!

Movie Review: One of the Greats, Folks
Summary: 5 Stars

Blinding cinematic brilliance. Meant as a cautionary tale for one to not judge by surface appearances, it succeeds on every level. This came out during an era of exploitative films such as reefer madness, and other seedy underworld pieces that were like erotic fables trying to tittilate and teach simultaneously. I don't even want to give a breakdown as to what lies within at even the chance of throwing up a spoiler. It's got zippy, caterpillar man, midget love, the bearded lady, and all your favourites. . .Mandatory for any film collector

Movie Review: The best way to see this film
Summary: 5 Stars

I've seen this film several time over the decades and this was the best viewing ever - why? Because of the hour long documentary that gives us biographies for the various sideshow performers. It gives a deeper appreciation to their lives. David J. Skal enlightens us about them - and also fills us in on the various endings MGM tried to use. It also touches on why Tod Browning's career ended. Warners did a great job at giving this film a sense of context with the bonus features instead of just tossing out a barebones DVD.

Movie Review: Well It's ABOUT TIME !!!!!!!!!
Summary: 5 Stars

I have been waiting forever for this to come out on DVD. I am hoping that the picture quality and sound are good !! It's only 62 minutes but its packed with a great story line and a lot of "freaks". Remember .."ONE OF US...ONE OF US" !!!@ If you like cult classics and the "film noir" stuff I also recommend Metropolis restored version ..and Scarlet Street, both by Fritz Lang..although the current versions of Scarlet Street on DVD are not truly restored.
