Movie Reviews of Frank Zappa - Baby SnakesMovie Review: Baby Snakes Summary: 5 Stars
Seeing as how there is very little video record of the works of Frank Zappa, I consider this film to be nearly priceless. There is plenty one could be critical of: I sometimes regarded Zappa's musical topics as often rude, crude and needlessly raunchy. He was none-the-less a true American original and a brilliant composer.
The best part of this film is the concert footage. If you never got the chance to see Frank live (Like me) and you generally dig LIVE music, you'll totally dig this video.
Movie Review: The Best Summary: 5 Stars
If you like Zappa you have to 1979 Concert/Animation/Claymation/Documentary/Home Video movie
It is a good look at Zappa circa 1979 with Terru Bozzio on drums, Ed Mann as Percussoid, Tommy Mars and Peter Wolf on keyboards, Adrian Belew and Patrick o'hearn on bass, Frank Zappa on vocals and most importantly GUITAR! bruce bickford animation, too which is just plain amazing and trip-tastic. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED GRADE A SLOP, comes with free no-d glasses!
Movie Review: Awful guitar player? Summary: 5 Stars
Stef, you've got to be kidding. I notice you did not mention anywhere in your review that you are a musician. If you were, it would probably help you see what a ridiculous statement you made. Granted, everyone has an opinion, but you should be able to recognize talent when you hear (or see) it. I can admit Karen Carpenter was a talented person, even though I don't like her particular style of music or drumming.
Movie Review: Baby Snakes is a classic Summary: 5 Stars
After renting "Baby Snakes", I bought my own personal copy. I think this is a classic and I fell in love with Frank Zappa, all over again. He was charming, attractive, and oh so talented! This movie gives a great view into the music and magic that is Zappa.
I recommend it to anyone who knows who Frank is. He shaped a generation in ways that may not be fully understood yet or ever.
Movie Review: a message to Michael Mikesell,,, Summary: 5 Stars
i would like to point out, to mister Michael Mikesell, that, pertaining to your "under the influence" comment in the review, that Zappa was VERY vehemently anti-drug and very rarely drank aside from the occasional beer, he was just a very strange individual, and that's the only thing you can possibly describe him as is an in-di-vid-ual, a term that has lost it's meaning in today's day and age.
