Movie Review: Inspiring Movie
Summary: 5 Stars
Like almost all movies of Saint Francis - this omits his brother and has some history inaccuracies. Thankfully, it did not show the actor taking off his clothes before the bishop while renouncing his father and his inheritance.
The score is fairly sappy and overdone, but such was the custom with such movies until the 1970's. Francis' struggle with Paolo is played out well but treats lightly his friendship with Bernard and the others.
Regardless of its faults it is well done, being filmed in Italy with a beauty that explains why Italians call their nation, "La Bella Paisa," the Beautiful Country. The dvd is a widescreen version, so please play it on something much larger than a puny 20 inch set, to get the full view of Italy's charm and grace. Also, the sound leaves something to be desired but even so, this is an inspiring movie.
