Movie Review: Foul Play

I watched this movie when I was a teenager, when it was classified as a 'B' movie. In those days, you got a 'B' movie first then the main feature. I have always remembered it and even watching it now a quarter of a century later it still is as funny and comical as I remember. The charecters are original and the plot plausable. The only thing I never understood was why the team lead by Chevy Chase couldnt work out it was the pope who was going to be shot. When they knew all along that the biggest hit man west of Chicago had been hired to do the job? The pope was to visit San Francisco in a few days so to me it was logical that he was going to be the target.Movie Review: "There is going to be a murder..."

Foul Play is so funny, the funniest film from the 1970s. Goldie Hawn has never been more cutier then she was in Foul Play. She plays a librarian named Gloria, she is a recent divorcee just trying to balance work and love. Chevy Chase is great as a dectective (his first major film role). The two are attracted to each other but nothing comes of it til later in the film. Dudley Moore is comical as hell. What a great actor he was. The scene where he takes Gloria back to his pad is hilarious. I love this film so much. The main theme is someone is trying to murder the pope and it's up to Gloria to help somehow. This is a great film, it has a little of everything murder, suspense, thrills and of course comedy.
Goldie Hawn is very good as the librarian that is duped into a series of thrilling events.
Burgess Meredith is a hoot as her over protective landlord with a hint of "super spy" ability.
Chevy Chase is a big surprise as the police detective that comes to her rescue " With his comic ability and charm". Oh did I forget to mention it also has romance.
Five Stars!!!!!!
I cant wait to get it on HD, It looks great if plaid on a blu ray or HD DVD Player as is but should be in HD.
Movie Review: Goldie Hawn and Chevy Chase's best work to date!

This is an older film (70's), but truely one of the best films for either Goldie Hawn or Chevy Chase. Together these two have incredible onscreen magic. This film is fast-paced, romantic, and hilarious; you will find yourself watching it again and again! The soundtrack is awesome, the scenery is magnificent (filmed in San Francisco), and there are many cameos by actors and actresses you'll definitely recognize. This is an awesome family film (older children; there are a few scenes from massage parlors); no foul language and very little violence. There are too many great things about this movie to detail them all, and they all work wonderfully.
Dudley Moore, Burgess Meredity, Brian Dennehy, etc. etc. I loathe to say it, but, really they don't make movies like this any more. If a remake was made there'd be explosions, terrorists, Dudley Moore's closet of goodies would be even more X-rated!
I like its subtlety.
Goldie Hawn is so much better than her daughter Kate Hudson. She's so sweet and not annoying. Love the dwarf and albino, who are always evil!
