Movie Review: Interesting movie based on an autobiography...definitely stimulates thinking, but requires an open mind...

When I first bought this movie, I was very uncertain about what to expect. After hearing generally good reviews of the autobiographical book, I thought I would watch the movie. It requires an open mind; because knee-jerk reactions will completely kill the theme of the film - it's a love story. I was compelled to think after watching the movie; and I have to admit, I was uncomfortable with the age difference between the characters. The movie does not tack on the contemporary baggage regarding social stigma about child molestation and homosexuality - every person will arrive at their own conclusions about the film. More over, this is a film based on an autobiographical account of a Dutchman reflecting on his past.Movie Review: FOR A LOST LOVE...

THAT WOULD'VE BEEN A NICE TITLE THOUGH IT FOCUS ON A ROMANCE BETWEEN A 20 YEAR OLD SOLDIER & A 12 YEAR OLD BOY WHO MET ON WORLD WAR 2.
LOVE THE VIEW & THE PLACES WHERE IT WAS TAPED & LOVE THE DRAMA & THE LESSON BEHIND IT.
THIS IS KINDA LIKE THE WIZARD OF OZ,DOROTHY NEVER KNEW THAT SHE COULD'VE GONE HOME BY CLICKING HER HEELS 3 TIMES, JOREON WOULD'VE FOUND THE SOLDIER LONG TIME AGO IF HE WOULD'VE AMPLIFIED THE PICTURE.
AM I GIVING SOME STUFF AWAY??
SORRY BUT IT'S A VERY TOUCHY MOVIE,RISKY CAUSE OF THE ROMANCE & HAS A VERY SAD ENDING,THAT'S THE PART THAT MADE ME CRY!!
Movie Review: Excellent Portrayal

This movie is deep and sometimes it seems to have a bit of trouble capturing it all in such a short time. Perhaps this was intended as it seems to favor letting the viewer make their own judgements about the story. Controversial with many, each viewer will see a different side of the coin, but all viewers will see the genuine and well integrated emotional rollercoaster that each of the characters must enture.
Overall, one of my favorite foriegn films for it's honesty and fearless willingess to portray reality without inserting extrenal judgements and cues for the viewer.

Absolutely unique, charming, emotional and humane in its own way. A wonderful film, or let me say 'a journey' to witness, about a little boy and an adult man. A forbidden, yet a delightful friendship between the two, is something that cannot be described in words alone. See it, be shocked, be surprised, be happy and also shed some tears, but you surely won't be able to avoid this tiny gem of a film. A splendid, simplified direction by Roeland Kerbosch, makes the film an unforgettable journey between two characters, you won't easily forget.
Movie Review: Tender and beautiful

This movie is a good example of how it is possible to look at whatever subject from another angle. The producers were very talented to deal with it in such a lyrical way. Yes, the theme is highly polemic, but I wish more people could(or were interested in) watching this film. I was touched by the simplicity of the characters,yet with such a strong message and moving acting. None of them could speak each other's language, but they communicated anyway, through sheer feelings. Absolutely a must see!
