Movie Review: Black And White And Black And Blue...

As first films go, FOLLOWING is brilliant. Nolan's extremely low-budget, B+W effort is stark in a noirish sort of way. The characters are mysterious and menacing, and the plot is downright diabolical! The idea of following total strangers around is as creepy as it is potentially dangerous. What happens to the main character for doing so is fitting and astonishing. I found the twists and turns to be exhilarating. If you like puzzles w/ bite, then FOLLOWING will be a nice surprise...Movie Review: Wicked twist!

The story is involving, the B&W atmosphere sets the right mood (obviously due to a very low budget, but it works well here), and the twist at the end of the story is extremely well executed. Keeps you guessing until the final few frames. A masterpiece by Christopher Nolan, who is better known for his work on Memento (also a masterpiece in its own right). The story has been laid out by other reviews above. Be assured if you love films, and watch films not only for the story, but also to learn the process, this is the dvd for you. It gives the same story in the original disjointed format and straight. A very interesting visual experience. I did have some problems with break-up of the picture of my DVD. I wonder if anyone else has had such problems? Regardless it is an excellent piece of work.Movie Review: Amazing Storytelling

This film stands out in its ability to tell a strange and disturbing story. There are so few masters of the art of storytelling, which makes Christopher Nolan the rare exception. He has a gift that is unique and compelling, which he uses effectively to bring audiences well crafted movies rarely seen since the days of Hitchcock.
This film is a gem worth several viewings.
